One of the best trios of pitchers in baseball belongs to the Mets: Matt Harvey, then Jacob deGrom (last year’s ROY), then a rookie named Noah Syndergaard.

“Thor” has been a force on the mound this season, even without the standards of a rookie. His 2.66 ERA is second among NL rookie starters behind Milwaukee’s Taylor Jungmann and 100 strikeouts is near Chris Heston’s 101 for the lead.

My beloved New York Yankees are in first place at the All-Star break! While that’s cool and all, this AL East race is pretty tight in the standings. The Yanks still need to buy some needs.

Trade proposal: Gerardo Parra (MIL) for player to be named later, hop

Milwaukee is going no where this season. With Gerardo Parra on his contract season, the Brewers no doubt should be shopping him. They probably would have traded him regardless, but luckily for Brewers GM Doug Melvin, Parra is having a breakout year at the plate. His career high in OPS and his first .300 season certainly adds to his value. He’s already one homer away from his career high with the season at the half-way point. The Brewers could definitley get a Grade-B prospect from New York.

The deal makes sense for the Yankees. With Mason Williams out for a while as a fifth outfielder and Carlos Beltran being a liability defensively, Parra and Chris Young would be a wonderful platoon. Parra is known for his Gold Glove defense.

It would be cool if the Yankees could part ways with Beltran somehow.

I’m not the biggest follower of college football, but I choose Mariota. Me living in Florida, I hear about all of Winston’s talents but I genuinely believe that off-field issues matter. I wouldn’t take the headache that came with the talent.

In an absurdly long 19 inning, almost seven hour game, we can thank the Yankees' corner infielders for extending it. In the 9th inning with 2 outs, Chase Headley hit a no-doubter to tie it.

Later in the 16th, Mark Teixeira hit a home run to left to tie the game again. After Tex’s shot, even Yankees fans were having conflicting thoughts as to whether be happy that the game was tied or mad that they had to stay past 2:00 AM.

We already knew Yoenis had a great arm, but even before Opening Day 2015 we knew Cespedes was a great, well-rounded outfielder. Oh and he’s also been known to hit mammoth home runs.

Don’t let the 325 million dollars change anything. Stanton is still one of the game’s biggest superstar’s and a real threat for NL MVP. He’s not just long homers either; he’s a great defender.
