In a season where the Giants can’t count on Tim Hudson, Tim Lincecum, and Ryan Vogelsong, Chris Heston has risen up to the occasion. With 11 wins and a 3.24, he’s been their most reliable starter behind ace Madison Bumgarner.

The biggest moment was by far his no-hitter.

The St. Louis outfielder was around in last year’s postseason, where he even hit a couple of homers, and is continuing his success with a great rookie season. His 13 homers and .292 average are respectable numbers but incredibly, besides Kyle Schwarber, who’s played in 50 less games than Grichuk, Grichuk leads all rookies with a .581 slugging percentage.

Duffy leads all rookies in hits (107) and is the only rookie qualified for the batting title that is hitting over .300. Plus, to the joy of Giants fans, he is playing better than San Francisco’s former third baseman Pablo Sandoval.

Duffy rose to fame in last year’s postseason when he scored from second on a wild pitch with two outs in the 9th as the tying run. And he has a really fat cat.

Certainly the most hyped rookie heading into 2015, Kris Bryant has given us everything anyone could have asked for. He leads all rookies in RBI with 61, has 14 homers, and has even showed speed with 10 steals. He even appeared in the Home Run Derby and was an All-Star. The only downside is that he leads the league, not just rookies, in strikeouts.

Bryant probably has the most memorable moments of any rookie this season. He has that walk-off home run for a comeback win, a game-tying homer off the Cubs' scoreboard, and his Independence Day grand slam.

If you don’t know Joc, let’s introduce him. He plays center field for the NL West leading Dodgers, started in the All-Star game, was the Home Run Derby runner up, and leads all rookies with 21 homers and 65 walks.

Many Kris Bryant fans criticize Joc for his low batting average (.221), yet Joc’s OBP and Bryant’s are almost identical (.352 to .354 respectively).

He reminds me a lot of Cardinals great Jim Edmonds; great center fielders who dominate in two tools.

I vote Noah Syndergaard.

Harvey, deGrom, Syndergaard, Matz, and Niese is the rotation that is making the Mets playoff bound. “Thor” has been just as important to the staff as Harvey and defending ROY deGrom. The Mets need Thor more than the Cubs need Bryant or the Dodgers need Pederson. And while this isn’t an MVP vote where playoffs shouldn’t be considered too much, Bryant and Joc have shown signs of falling. Syndergaard is staying strong.

For me, my American League pick is much easier than my NL pick. I have to go with Carlos Correa. This 20-year-old kid reminds me of 22-year-old Derek Jeter in 1996 in that he’s a rookie shortstop who seems to be leading the team. His rookie year reminds me a lot of Yasiel Puig. Both got called up half way in the season and made a huge impact. With only one month of experience, both made strong cases to make the All-Star team. We’ve seen better rookie seasons over the past couple years, particularly legendary seasons from Mike Trout and Jose Fernandez. However it’s pretty neat to see a player called up half-way in the season and have such an impact on a playoff-bound team.

No one is too surprised that Kang is having a great rookie season; he was a superstar in his own right in South Korea. Last year he hit .356 with 40 homers in the KBO. Everyone seemed to be on the bandwagon to doubt Kang, saying he couldn’t be even half the player he was in the inferior KBO. Which, by today’s MLB offensive standards, is still pretty good. I’d take 20 homers from a shortstop.

From Korea,

to America

Kang is batting .291 with 8 homers and a OPS of .809.

Billy Beane has a player named Billy Burns who can play good baseball. Burns leads all rookies in at-bats so we’ve gotten a good look at what he can bring. He leads all rookies in stolen bases and AL rookies in hits, while showing off great defense in the outfield.

Delino DeShields is a classic on-base/speed guy that you like at the top of the line up. Among rookies he is second in OBP (.369), second in stolen bases (18), first in walks (35), and first in triples (7). He doesn’t have a single home run, but he makes up for it with other extra base hits.

The Rule 5 draft pick for the Rangers is making a name for himself, who otherwise would be known for this incident.
