I was absolutely an R. Kelly fan. I was a Space Jam fan to the max. “I Believe I Can Fly” was a classic. “World’s Greatest,” which I make fun of in this song, I used to love that song. But the more you look into him, he really seems like a pretty dark character beyond even the issue of the urination and whatnot. The mental manipulation and stuff he was doing to girls that was in the news recently. It’s almost like he had some sort of sex cult and these girls have to call him every half hour when they’re not at the house. Really fucked-up shit.

So I felt it was important to address him because he seems like far more sinister than people would think. And that’s one of the problems, because sometimes, it’s hard to remove a person from his work. I’m not saying I will never bump a song with R. Kelly on the hook ever again, but I also know how to remove that person from his work. R. Kelly is a bad person. And I’m not gonna go out of my way to listen to R. Kelly music, but at the same time he did make some incredible music. So we as a society need to learn how to separate the person from the music. But at the same time, you know, if you’ve made good music it doesn’t justify you. But you can still appreciate the fact that that person made good music. It’s a real fine line. It’s hard to find the right place, morality wise, excuse me with that. Because it is a slippery slope. Like he’s a piece of shit, but I like his music, where do you stand there? I don’t even know exactly where I would stand there. But I know I’m gonna talk shit about him.

I felt like that was the perfect way to end it. The funny thing is I was rapping this to one of my homies and I had this stuff about the Bushes, but I hadn’t put in that Billy Bush line because I forgot he was a Bush. And my boy AG was like, “Yo, Billy Bush, the grab them by the pussy thing.” And I was like oh yeah dude. From there, I threw that in and just rounded out. Like I say, “Just cut through the Bushes like a landscaper.” Because I addressed as many as I could think of. I’m sure there’s more.

It starts with George Bush Sr. because they were saying he was grabbing asses. Really that was just an excuse for me to go in on the Bushes. I don’t like the Bushes. I think they are really the symbol of corrupt elite families running the country for generations and they’ve had a very negative impact on the country. They’ve gotten us in multiple wars. I don’t fuck with the Bushes. So I just went on to get at everybody, W, Jeb, and wind out with Billy Bush because that was one of the most notable moments of the presidential election when the grab her by the pussy line was brought to the media.

Bill O'Reilly has a long history with hip-hop. And he just has a long history of running his mouth and being a general piece of shit. So for all this to come out just gave me that reason to go after him and a justified one at that. So I was just like, “Oh man let’s give it to this guy. This guy’s a fucking prick. Like he just is a prick. And this gives everybody the reason to hate him.” He was an easy target, and he’s pissed a lot of people off in the past. He’s always on that moral high ground.

Harvey Weinstein and Bill Clinton are homies, and Bill Clinton, the more you dig into the Clintons, the darker that hole gets. And there’s definitely, to put it broadly, a lot of sexual abuse in that category. But someone like Bill Clinton had the ultimate Clinton. You could say the same about our current president. But at the same time, Harvey Weinstein and Bill Clinton were super homies, and I’m sure they have that boys-club mentality. Who knows what they did together, but it’s just pretty crazy what goes down. And I also think it’s really important, because I am generally liberal. I think gay people should be able to get married. I think girls should be able to have abortions. That’s their decision.

So a lot of times, I get painted as this super-liberal Democrat, which I am not. I am not a Democrat and I’m not a Republican, obviously. But at the same times I think it’s important to give it to both sides. It just happens to be a little heavy-handed in the Republican section right because they’re running everything. It’s what’s going on right now. But it’s important, I think all sides of politics are crooked and it’s important to bring attention to that. Fuck the Clintons. Fuck Hillary too, though. Let’s not leave her out. She’s a fucking bitch.

There are a lot of people who are creepy, shitty people. And in this conversation it is dudes we’re talking about. It’s pretty much exclusive to men in this particular situation. And men with power, when they have these same instincts and disregard for women. These people must see women as a lower life form, which is fucked up. And It’s dangerous when people get power. That dude ran Hollywood. So a lot of these people they were scared to speak out against him because he was so powerful. And I think that’s something we’ve seen through the history of time, probably dating back to the ancient Greek rulers and Pharaohs and whatnot. This has always been a problem. People with power can be very dangerous. Power is in itself a very dangerous thing. And it brings out the worst in people who already have bad in them. But it’s not like I’m super familiar with Harvey Weinstein, but obviously I heard what everybody heard. So I started with him.

This probably my favorite song. It’s the most impressive song that I ever created.

This is where I’m basically braking up with certain drugs. It starts out with a voicemail from each of these chicks: Molly, Lindsey, who represents coke and Xandra, who is Xanax.

Each verse starts with a voicemail and then we writing them a break-up letter. It gets pretty intense.

This is the type of songs that kids will hear it and it will help them. Drugs now are even worse then they were when I was using. Prescriptions everywhere.

If you do them safely and do the right ones— it’s more about doing good drugs. You don’t want to get bad drugs. Certain drugs don’t add anything to your life.

I had a great time with Molly, but I don’t know if my brain can take any more holes. I had a time with coke. That’s something I used to do a lot in high school.

I got that out of my system, but being in my game, they pop back up. I can’t do this shit no more.

And Xanax, there is no benefit to that shit unless you’re having a full-blown anxiety attack.

This one is definitely about being out in Cali. There was one point I was in L.A. and drove up to San Francisco to see my boy up there.

There’s a song called “Stolen Dance” by Milky Chance and I kept bumping it as I was driving to SF. I got back from that trip and was like, “Yo, Jitta you gotta sample this right now.”

It’s a period piece for me. Just talking about us being some CT guys who headed out to Cali.

My dad added guitar to this, he plays on numerous songs on the project— probably like 8 or 9.

This has a Lana Del Rey sample. I’m a big Lana Del Rey fan and “High by the Beach” is my favorite song of hers.

It’s another weed song. This was the second track I dropped on 4/20.

I’m from Connecticut, so I spend a lot of time getting high by the beach. The ocean is where I write a lot of my lyrics. I’ll sit in my car, at the beach and look out.

I can’t live without an ocean around me. Even in the winter time I’ll still go park at the beach.
