KRIT compares escaping poverty to gaining yards in football games. Yards gained = the more money you have. The poverty line = the line of scrimmage.

This line also suggests the struggle regarding poverty. The poor struggle to escape it, while society struggles to keep them impoverished just like football players that play with all their heart, regardless of which team they’re on.

“Any given Sunday could be my last” is not only KRIT’s recognition of the fragility of life, but also a reference to the movie of the same name, thus keeping with the football motif.

Note: “yard” might also refer to front yards, which would imply home ownership is hindered by one’s poverty.
