Note that “California Love” dropped on December 28, 1995, and just a few months later, on August 28, 1996, L.A.’s other big gangster rap outfit, Ice Cube and Westside Connection, dropped a track called “Bow Down.” 2Pac was not happy about this and briefly spoke about it in an interview:
