Y2K refers to the fear that the changing of the year from 1999 to 2000 would cause widespread computer malfunction resulting in problems ranging from nuclear misfires to the crash of the stock market. Some people were half-hoping that it would lead to some manner of excitement but it was, somewhat disappointingly, all for naught.

In Five-Percenter ideology, the Asiatic Black Man is the original man. Unlike most rappers who invoke the Asiatic Black Man, Cool Calm Pete is Asian and not black. It is more likely an allusion to the Nas line from “It Ain’t Hard to Tell” than an expression of Pete’s own Five Percenter ideologies.

“Genesis” has a double meaning here. In one sense it means ‘origins.’ Baje is saying that it is important to familiarize oneself with one’s enemy. Sun Tzu’s The Art of War is crediting with originating this idea.
