The Mobius Strip is a mathematical concept – it is a loop with only one “boundary component”, meaning you can travel along it’s length and cover the entirety of it’s surface without crossing the edge of the loop

The Mobius Strip is a one sided figure. Having an Anti-Mobius Strip Theory means to be “against one sided theories” – believing that nothing is truly one sided, and that it is human nature to be hypocritical at times

In 2004 (this song was released in 2001), Cryptic One released the solo album “Anti Mobius Strip Theory”

In the film The Planet of the Apes, astronauts travel through time and discover a planet where apes are the dominant species and humans are thought to be relatively unintelligent

At the end, it is discovered that in a “forbidden area” of the planet lies The Statue of Liberty, buried in the sand on a beach. The truth is, the astronauts have landed back on Earth!

Cryptic envisions a similar view of the future

An “idiot box” is a fairly common nickname for a television. The line implies that those watching too much TV are “following the herd” and having their minds squashed by the mindless entertainment

Cryptic advises them to take in more intellectually stimulating things (like his lyrics) or they risk becoming a part of a herd of mental slaves (beasts of burden)

A “beast of burden” is an animal that does work for man. The best example is perhaps the ox

The Cold Vein was the first full-length release on the Def Jux label, later forced to change its name to Definitive Jux to prevent confusion with Def Jam. It was the premier underground rap label of the 00s, also hosting RJD2, El-P, Mr Lif, and Aesop Rock.

El-Pro is short for El-Producto aka El-P, who produced this entire album. The drum tracks are certainly impressive.

An underground king, El-P found mainstream success when he partnered with Killer Mike to form Run the Jewels.

The word association with Atom, as in the name of the song and rap group in the track. Adam refers to the Adam’s apple, the bump in a grown man’s throat. Vordul’s lyrics are like a hook stuck in your throat.

There is some interesting word association going on since Vordul just said apple in the previous line.

The line also connects to the Batman reference a few lines back since Batman often uses grappling hooks to get around.

In art and architecture, “Gothic” refers to a period and the general style of that period (12th-16th century)

The gargoyle is a common figure in Gothic architecture. They are figures that are perched on the edges of buildings. Their practical purpose is to spout water away from the roof/building, but they are also said to scare away evil spirits

Like gargoyles, Vordul sits on top of old buildings and is stoned. Gargoyles are literally made of stone, while Vordul is just high

To “wet your noodle” is to eat or indulge in something. In this case, the music of Cannibal Ox

“‘Til death do us” is part of “'til death do us part”, which is a phrase used in wedding ceremonies to mean that the couple will be together until they die

Unfortunately, a large percentage of marriages end in divorce, and Cannibal Ox never released a second album

“Atoms” refers to “Atom’s Family” a loose hip-hop collective that both Can Ox members belong(ed) to

To “peel a cap” usually means to shoot someone in the head, but since Vordul claims in the next line to not carry a gun, it could also means to open a bottle of liquor. This fits in with “smoke onions” which is just smoking weed
