If you pay attention RIGHT before the her verse comes in, the bass drops “growls” like a panther to let you know she’s next in the song. Felines often are associated with feminine characteristics (such as scratching, fighting, being nosy, loud, sneaking, etc).

Money talks, guess I got I the gift of gab, don’t interject, don’t intercept, you ain’t on a jet, you ain’t meet a bitch (her) with this kind of money yet
  • Then she goes delves into “Nicki The Boss” alter ego to say exactly why “money talks for her” and begins dropping her usual anvil-sized bars.

#THE “MOTHER” OF ALL DISSES

  • She’s reusing her signature motif implying that they look like men and act like thugs. They’re inferior, while she is the “New H.B.I.C.” and runs the Rap game.

  • “Prodigal Son” (Pictured above) is a Biblical phrase referring the symbolic story of a father who left his inheritance to two of his sons. The younger one (represents the sins of the Pharisees) used it to waste his life and squandered it for excess and selfishness. His father (represents God/Jesus’s forgiveness). However she is a woman and unforgiving (as mothers often do scold their young), therefore using a “Goddess” analogy to further the maternity metaphor. She is saying her “sons” are a waste of talent, time and money, not doing anything redeemable, therefore are an embarrassment to Hip-Hop.

  • By saying “adopted” she goes one step further saying new female rappers (Azealia Banks started beef with her) got famous off of others, but decided to “take care of them” (diss/disown them) and let them mooch off her, having made them RELEVANT. Here she is using antithesis to display the contrasting relationship between fake ass “newly adopted” female rappers (Banks, Iggy, etc.) and the “prodigal” ones who fucked up their careers (Kim, Keys) who all fell off like backwards children, due to her tough love “parenting”.

  • A brilliant, rarer instance of litotes “Not even biological” that effectively sends the hardest impact of the message by saying they all act like “rugrats” not real women. That part emphasized to show even if they were her real kids, it wouldn’t matter because Nicki herself proclaims she is the “realest” compared to all of her “children”. (A mother is still the mother) completing the entire “Developmental Psych” extended metaphor.

She is using “hotel” as a homophone for “Your lipstick STAINS (and) smells like a cheap HO-(telling the man)”

“Diamonds watches and a gold chain, can’t make my frown turn around” unlike hos who do ANYTHING for money and possessions.

Cassie and Nicki sum up the theme of the song by being independent women who can not only provide for themselves, but are respectable for not lowering their character to “trick standards” for a bunch of little boys to be manipulated as sex objects.

This section of her verse when compared to most of her mentions of Politics has the most mocking.

She partly takes on the role of a “player” in both halves which is another instance of her yet again taking on the position of a masculine figure of influence. So she could be describing an official who’s “getting dirty” with his public image in a strip club.

In the 2nd half, note how she switches who she’s talking about referring to her old rivals and Female artist on the come up, and brings up choice words like Adopted, Biological, & Prodigal. She is sonning female rappers right now especially since she’s the biggest female rapper out right now.

In short, she is basically making the connection that both Politics together with Hip-Hop, exploit women, endorse and support a chauvinistic view of them and women who built their entire careers in those areas off of sex scandals (Kim sleeping with Big, showing off her cameltoe in public many times, Kim Kardashian’s endless list of sexcapades, Lewinsky getting Clinton impeached, etc.)**

Nicki again with her peculiar word choice, implies a subject matter that has been OVERLOOKED as a mere diss rap towards her “hoes and bitches” rivals that continued to give her shit.

Things to note:

  • “I endorse” usually refers to someone who supports a campaign they’re affiliated to by funding (usually Political)
  • Funding messages like these with a particular slogan “I’m a Republican voting for Mitt Romney” is an example of “streamlined propaganda”
  • Her tone of voice has a “subliminal” undertone, before changing the delivery in the 2nd hook.
  • To be controversial, she could very well again be satirizing the relationship between sex scandals, infidelity/polygamy and politics in general (like a certain Monica Lewinsky) while supporting strippers (Who USUALLY don’t have sex; they dance for money as a job in the entertainment industry)

Interestingly enough, McNabb was only in the Redskins for 2010, and used to be in Mill’s home football team the Philadelphia Eagles from 1999-2009, perhaps he is his favorite player?

Meek is also referring to the women he’s around, using the word “red skins” (which is considered a derogatory term) to connect with the Native Americans. Native Americans are stereotyped as powerful warriors and survivors, which is why Meek says “bad bitches”.

It could also state the sexy females which roam around Meek.
