Despite Bateman’s claims, the album actually came out in 1986. This is a recurring trait of Bateman’s character, especially prevalent in the novel, which is that he is largely a poseur who regularly gets facts wrong (for instance, claiming in the novel that Whitney Houston is an R&B singer and You Can’t Always Get What You Want is by the Beatles).
