This was the final installment of the Broken Empire trilogy. The previous books were brutally dark and thus extremely alluring. This book is where the world Jorg Ancrath lives in really started to come together. The focus shifted away from the antihero and centered on the metaphysics and history behind the Broken Empire.

This book was so good that I often had to set it down just to soak in the awesomeness. The twists Lawrence can put into a battle, the fury of Jorg, the passionate resistance he provokes from the reader, it’s all a thrilling experience.

This is the most glorious piece of political theory I have ever read. This book made me realize just how wealthy we truly are as a species, and this is using figures from the late nineteenth century! I can only imagine how post-scarcity we are now.

I loved how easy his writing is to comprehend. This book highlights how essential it is for man to be guaranteed the necessities of life and supports the feasibility of anarcho-communism with statistics. This is a vision of the future that I can get behind.

Fantastic anthology of sorts translated and compiled by Walter Kaufmann. This is some of the most inspirational philosophy I have ever seen. One of my favorite aspects of Nietzsche is that he always had hope. He was always striving to become better and to overcome everything. I loved his ideas concerning self-knowledge, liberation, and suffering. I highly recommend this as a gold standard of Nietzsche translation and introduction.

Things in his life are starting to blur together and he can’t make out the differences. The choice of metaphor references the title (plane and submarine).

One of the most direct and aggressive songs on the album. Here he addresses debt and poverty more thoroughly than anywhere else on the record.

He references a mortgage loan, money loaned to purchase property, for his heart. This illustrates the immorality of debt and how dehumanizing it is by applying it to something considered sacred. But people do seem to be indebted in order to even live.

It has been argued that our economic system is designed to keep us in debt.

Pill invokes a hypothetical of the grim reaper, death, claiming a person’s life. Money can’t stop the inevitable; it is mortal and lesser.

The point of these lines it to show that there are more important things to live for.

Greed leads to unhappiness. Pill uses this to justify the state of desperation that he and the rest of the working poor are in. They will never have an adequate amount of funds, so why even bother?

These lines expose the nihilism that poverty strikes you with and how you’ll cling at anything to support how you’re forced to live.

This an excellent book written by Democratic Socialist George Orwell about his time as a militiaman in the Spanish Revolution and Spanish Civil War. He spends less time in the actual anarchist communities than he does spend watching the party politics unfold and destroy the socialists & anarchists, with the P.S.U.C. at the vanguard.

Some of the best features to this book include insight to militias, how revolutionary spirit reforms speech, the manipulation done by the media, and a greater understanding of how totalitarian states operate in the face of resistance.
