I wrote this song for Maya to just say thank you as she now displays her mind and heart in the heavens the same way she did down here on Earth.

A very talented queen, Maya was not only a poet but an author a dancer, and actress. Through an era of divide and racism she found away through by adopting the mantra of “Love conquers all.”

A lot of people don’t know this, but as a struggling single mother trying to make it Maya was actually a pimp & a prostitute early in her adult like. She was also molested by her step father which led to a 6 year personal silence.

How many artist can say that had a chance to build and talk with both Malcolm & Martin? It shows the diverse of her character and the respect she commanded to be allowed so close to 2 totally different yet historical figures of that era.

Reading Queen Maya’s poetry is so refreshing. Like a tall glass of that Fiji Water.. Ha! No, seriously tho…

The hook on this song is very repetitive. I wanted to instill and bang our young girls over the head with some postivity for a change. I wanted to keep it simple, catchy, and something young girls can sing along to.

I have no idea what this even means fam… lol I was messing up at the end of the verse and tried to freestyle and I just gave up.. hahahaha lolol

Too many MCs come into the game focused on everything except their pen and pad.. smh! I don’t care about that! Focus on the music first and let all the other stuff be bonus gems for you… Without passion for the culture you are merely a rapper, not an artist…

Everybody can’t rap or be the “star” but it doesn’t mean you can’t tell the story! There are multiple ways to be apart of the culture and we need all of them! MCs, producers, bloggers, managers, journalists, videographers, etc..

Trying to tell stories through the rhymes.. Paint a picture for those young ones coming up.. How God took us through war all the way to glory!!!
