These two lines reflect on the trouble, (this term seems pretty euphemistic considering the extent that the war between has reached), of gang affiliation within the US-American society.

Damian Marley uses the conflict between the Crips, (blue), and Bloods, (red), subsidiary for all gang violence. This conflict might be one of the most notorious and violent conflicts in the USA but as much as this war is cruel and it is glorified. The third part of this tricolon under covers might refer to undercover policemen of the police who investigate crimes attributed to gangs.

Its also a reference to both Police (red n blue lights i.e undercovers) and democrats and republicans (red states and blue states)

A certain part of rap listeners accused modern day rappers such as ASAP Rocky and Kanye West for being to “feminine, gay” etc. for their choice in fashion i.e. Pyrex shorts worn over leggings, leather skirts and so on.

What Kweli is more likely referring to is his perception that some rappers are bratty, spoiled and arrogant. Culture Shock describes the process of feeling disorientation due to a new environment. The most common problems causing this feel are:

  • information overload

  • language barrier

  • generation gap

  • technology gap

A culture shock usually occurs when a person changes his social environment, travels to a foreign country etc.
