These two lines reflect on the trouble, (this term seems pretty euphemistic considering the extent that the war between has reached), of gang affiliation within the US-American society.

Damian Marley uses the conflict between the Crips, (blue), and Bloods, (red), subsidiary for all gang violence. This conflict might be one of the most notorious and violent conflicts in the USA but as much as this war is cruel and it is glorified. The third part of this tricolon under covers might refer to undercover policemen of the police who investigate crimes attributed to gangs.

Its also a reference to both Police (red n blue lights i.e undercovers) and democrats and republicans (red states and blue states)

Talib Kweli started doing music in 1995, which means has been doing rap music since approximately 20 years of age, as he is born in 1975. Others rappers who currently are 35+ like Nas, Jay-Z, Snoop Dogg etc. apparently have the same work ethic as Kweli.

Here Kweli expresses his thoughts about modern society. He uses a strong juxtaposition to get his point across. Love could mean everything positive within the society and cholera is subsidiary mentioned for everything bad and negative.

It also is referencing a the novel Love in the Time of Cholera.

The first part of the line refers to the society in general which seems to be uncaring and neglectful. This statement could not only be matched to the aforementioned veterans but to all weak persons within the society like orphans and homeless people.

The latter part of the line lists 3 synonyms for the word gang likely street gangs (This stylistic device is called synonym clustering). Talib Kweli uses this simile to express his opinion on society which he sees as violent as a gang.

After you´ve met him you´re going to sing the blues like B.B King, who was an influential Blues musician. By singing the blues he means that is going to make you sad, which could be interpreted widely as harming you. Also a nice double entendre as blues usaully features sad lyrics.

He invites a unknown person, possibly a woman, to drink with him, in particular shots.

This line also fits very well with the title of this song.

A certain part of rap listeners accused modern day rappers such as ASAP Rocky and Kanye West for being to “feminine, gay” etc. for their choice in fashion i.e. Pyrex shorts worn over leggings, leather skirts and so on.

What Kweli is more likely referring to is his perception that some rappers are bratty, spoiled and arrogant. This line, with the context of the following line, can also be interpreted as an accusation by Kweli to rappers featuring a lot braggadocios topics in their lyrics who are to soft to speak up against social problems etc.

Smoke D is a rapper from Mississippi who was at the time of the making of Ridin' Dirty and uses a jail phone depict the life in prison to his friends in the free-world in the following intro.

Culture Shock describes the process of feeling disorientation due to a new environment. The most common problems causing this feel are:

• generation gap

A culture shock usually occurs when a person changes his social environment, travels to a foreign country etc.
