1-3 – My studies of religion showed me history was determined by who was alive to tell it, not necessarily who experienced it.
4-5 – In relation to their “prophecies” what I see and interpret is that through adaptation and evolution with nature and society, things are created to conquer, be conquered, and everything between. A scorpion being born defenseless as another creature and fusing itself with ideas of nature to become more than what it started.
10-17 – Putting the figures society has put in place as an enemy ahead of me, with the idea that this will be helping me prepare to face them, has ironically kept me in the shadow of exactly what I want to avoid.
The further you go, the more chaotic the fall to square one seems more terrifying. Even though things have gone this far though, I’m aware it never had to.
So to those figures in society that have been put in place as oppressors and dividers, I ask is it unrealistic for me to try and use this platform to prepare whoever is listening to fight you?

Y'ALL, THIS MEANS THIS JUST MIGHT GET RELEASED OMG, I’M EXCITED
@Saturnn oof
I think rather than breaking down lines im just gonna talk about what these verses were about, or what they meant to me/why i felt like it was something worth saying.
For me, rap is really an opportunity to say my piece without any interruptions or compromises – especially since i didnt really get the chance to speak up much when i was a kid. i was real passive and observant… but like writing and shit gives me the confidence to say what i feel and not feel wrong while i do it.
so with all that out the way, this verse was really supposed to serve as a call to action to myself, family, friends, the people i love & the people who love me, and anybody who just really needed to pick themselves up out the dirt and make a place for themselves in the world. I feel like this serves as a declaration for my views on the world, my views on myself, my views on the idea of giving up and what finding your purpose can mean in regards to moving forward. idk maybe Im gettin philosophical and shit but i really wanted to tell the world what i needed to tell myself too, and i used this moment to kinda come to grips with all that and accept it rather than let it defeat me

thank you dom.
i’m the passive, observant kid right now… not sure how to let my feelings out just yet.
I love how doms explanation for his verse is this, and the ciaran' s is “we was in London so it’s man”
I love how Dom makes these thoughtful annotations and then there’s Bearface lmao

The Detroit Pistons were heavy underdogs in the championship series against the Lakers. The ‘04 Piston’s were also known for winning via team chemistry rather than relying on a superstar. This may be indicating that Brockhampton as a crew can out perform the best in the game.
The ‘04 Pistons were known as the Bad Boys due to their extremely physical play
The late 1980’s/Early 1990’s Pistons were know as the Bad Boys due to their highly physical play not the ‘04 squad. Dom is simply referring to the Malice in the Palace.

top 5 skate clips ever btw
‘High’ and ‘Zorro’ also kind of sound like “Azor Ahai” from Game of Thrones, or “The Prince that was Promised”, i.e., Dom is the prophet, or savior of music
The El Toro High this is referring to is located in Lake Forest, CA right where the 405 (mentioned in the previous line) merges into the 5 shortly before the exit to El Toro High.
I think about this line a lot. Dom didn’t go to El Toro, or even in California. Also, El Toro is near the 405, but it’s technically off the 5. There is an Arturo High in LA, but it’s also much closer to the 5. How did Dom come up with this line?
The one piece reference went over many heads. “The precision of a cut from a Zoro knife” is a reference to a pirate hunter swordsman from the anime “One Piece”
@Mike111500 You know who Zorro is though right?
@GuyFuegoFieri yea he’s that Spanish swordsman or something from an old movie right? I was kinda hoping it was a one piece reference but u had a feeling they spelt it that way for a reason 🤣
Zoro refers to the swordsman from the anime One Piece. He uses swords as his main weapon. He is very skillful and regarded as one of the strongest swordsmen in the One Piece world.
