Illmatic, the album that many (including me) believe to be on of the top rap releases. What I mean is that I think that even if something does or has come out that is arguably better, most people would not actually convince themselves to believe it. I’m not saying something has, although there are other albums I personally like better than Illmatic that came out post 2000 (not saying they are better).

Not much is listened to with an open mind anymore, meaning non one is really even expwcting to hear much good half of the time.

Everybody’s always complaining that nothing that comes out today can compare to anything that came out “back in the day”. While this is true in some cases, I think that many times people think this due to lack of research of rap music from today and/or a subconscious non-wanting for anything today to top many of the oldies.
