Bonita Applebum has got it goin' on!

I really enjoyed this Pro Era posse cut and the nostalgic beat to go along with it. Moreover, everyone’s showing up with some dope verses which make for a great song and a spot on my list.

I understand that this isn’t a hip-hop song, but I don’t care, this song is toooo nice. Unbelievably catchy, and Danielle’s voice goes so smoothly with the instrumentation. The hook has some incredible harmonizing that will leave you in amazement.

This also was a huge contender for the #1 spot. Now a lot of people hate on this song; I’ve straight up heard people say, “this should have been left out on the album” or “this song is booty and not the good kind”, but forget that… at least for me, one of the catchiest songs of the year. Like the beat just takes me back and puts me in a place of happy feels (shouts to Druke). And the song itself is pretty simple which I like for some reason.

Being the huge fan of Gambino that I am, it makes sense that a Gambino song would come number 1. I’m actually a bit surprised that it’s “3005”. But then again, this song is just too catchy and good for it not to be. I remember when I first heard this song, I already knew the whole album was going to be fire (lo and behold, I was correct). The video is also pretty dope too.

Doing this list was actually a bit harder than I thought it would be not just because it’s hard to narrow down all of the songs I loved this year but also the fact that a lot of the songs I also loved this year came out during the latter part of 2012 or even before that.

Nonetheless, I was able to create a list of my ten favorites along with many honorable mentions.

(Get ready, y'all. The Eons are taking over just in case you forgot)

Only a top ten? It was tough. Just know that the first several songs on this Honorable Mentions list could have easily been put up on my top ten.

Referring to the emotional scars that have inflicted a lot of pain to this girl and quite possibly the real ones she may have as a result of cutting or abuse.

Similar to the girl from their previous song Don’t Jump, she is also about to commit suicide by jumping from the top of a building. The only difference here is that she succeeds in doing so, thus whatever her last wish was will forever remain unsaid.

Taken literally, it’s obvious Bill is talking to a girl who is about to commit suicide by jumping from a roof. It’s also important to note that this could be taken both literally and metaphorically. Either way, he does not want to lose her in any way, shape, or form.
