Referring to Top Notch Ent. which was Soulo’s original crew before he came to TDE.

His loyalty remains as of late considering it’s tattooed on his hand

Also a call-back to his song “Bohemian Grove” where he spit the same first line.

Talib isn’t soft like a rabbit nor is he a white tiger (to carry on the magic wordplay referencing stage magicians Siegfried & Roy). He sees himself as a panther, more specifically a black panther – a direct reference to the Black Panther Party founded by Huey Newton and Bobby Seale

In wake of what’s going on in the country concerning police brutality and #BlackLivesMatter, many protesters are actually using the lyrics from this single to chant in order to convey the message that through everything going on, we will be alright.

The track’s hook was even chanted during the 20th anniversary of the iconic Million Man March held in Washington DC (included among the protesters were Jay Electronica, J. Cole, and Common)

Truthfully, this could be on par with some of my other honorable mentions (Shadow of a Doubt, The Incredible True Story), but I think just the anxiety and anticipation held for this album and having Jay Rock deliver really made this record a special one.

VICE CITY tho? Man, I love TDE.

I feel like this is a great example of an album that was highly anticipated and then quickly forgotten soon after it dropped; it wasn’t it’s fault, a good amount of stuff dropped during the summer time.

I still found enjoyment in listening to this record and even after hearing “Sunday Candy” 83 times before the album dropped, it still sounded beautiful hearing it in the record’s context.

Favorite tracks:
- Sunday Candy

It came out in the very beginning of 2015 (on Joey’s birthday) but it still holds strong even after 11 months. Joey came strong with his debut, and I think it’s common knowledge he only drops dopeness

Are you serious? WEST COAST STAND UP

I’m a huge west coast fan. I get it if you’re confused on why this is #2, but all my west coast brethren know: this album bumps. The Game has dropped something truly special. Damn near as good as the first Documentary.

With an homage to Suga Free, appearances from DJ Quik, DJ EEEEEZ DICC, MC Eiht (what up fam), and new schoolers like ScHoolboy & Jay Rock, how can you go wrong?

Favorite Tracks:
- Quik’s Groove
- Up on the Wall
- Crenshaw/808s and Cocaine

While the Ohio State men’s basketball team (the Buckeyes) have only won one National Championship, they’ve made a total of 26 NCAA Tournament appearances and housed stars like D'Angelo Russell. Elliot just wants to ball as hard as they do. It’s no coincidence he’s shouting out Ohio State seeing as he’s from the O himself.
