By brother, he probably means your peers, since it was common for African-Americans to call each other their brother (rather than nigga). And makes you feel closer to him than just a brother by calling him your son

“Son” was a term of endearment predominantly in 90’s urban culture. In this case, “son” also doubles as “sun” which emits a glow. The inner glow from your brother (friend) is bright and positive, so you know to call him sun/son.

I believe this is a Five Percent reference, as some have pointed out calling your “brother” “Sun”. Method Man can be quoted with a lot of 5 reference, such as my mans stated “I call my brother SUN because he shines like one” coming from the 7 pointed star and sun that is the Five Percent Nation of Gods and Earths symbol and flag. So calling your brother Sun is like giving him props as a Fiver and therefore saying hes God-like. Peace Gods.
