Jon Heyman tweeted the news one minute before Jeff Passan did.

He called it a smart […] necessary deal for [the Angels] with all their pitching injuries..

Before this game, Albert Pujols had never homered against the St. Louis Cardinals. To be fair, this was only his sixth game against his former ball club and only had 24 plate appearances against them… but he finally did it.

This long ball over the center field wall made him the 9th active player to hit a home run against all 30 Major League teams.

Trivia: Who are the other players to hit at least one home run against every team?

  • Jose Bautista
  • Carlos Beltran
  • Adrian Beltre
  • Stephen Drew
  • Adrian Gonzalez
  • Russell Martin
  • Brian McCann
  • Brandon Moss

(The latest to do it was Brandon Moss, who went deep earlier this year against the Braves to accomplish the feat.)

Side Note: If people are paying attention to the career home run tracker, Pujols is now only 2 home runs from passing Rafael Palmeiro 12th on the all-time list.

After leading the Golden State Warriors to a historical 73-9 regular season record while smashing his own record of three-pointers made (402), Stephen Curry became the first unanimously voted Most Valuable Player in the NBA on May 10, 2016. By winning his second MVP in a row, he joins ten other players (including Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson) in accomplishing that feat. Kawhi Leonard, Lebron James, Russell Westbrook, and Kevin Durant finished second through fifth, respectively.

The St. Louis Cardinals are arguably more of a surprise power team this season than the Mets.

In 2015, the Mets homered 177 times… which was third-most in the National League. The Cardinals' home run mark was below average: 137.

In 2014, St. Louis were last in that category (105); the Mets were 9th that year.
