W: A. Sanchez (5-4)
L: R. Hernandez (2-5)

The Blue Jays were victorious against the Houston Astros thanks to a dominating pitching effort and a five-run 3rd inning.

Aaron Sanchez pitched 8 shutout innings, but was taken out of the game in the 9th after surrendering a solo home run to Jason Castro and allowing another run to score after a throwing error from Russell Martin. Nevertheless, he only gave up 5 hits and walked no batters for the first time in his career.

On the other end, Roberto Hernandez gave up 6 runs (5 of them earned) 9 hits, 2 walks and 1 strikeout through 5 2/3 innings.

The highlight inning came in the 3rd inning, as the power of the Jays' bats came alive. Jose Reyes and Jose Bautista respectively hit 2 two-run homers, and Chris Colabello chimed in on the action with a RBI single. With that hit, Colabello extended his league-leading hitting streak to 15 games.

Jered Weaver came into this game pitching 5 straight quality starts. During that span, he had a 1.98 ERA and only gave up 2 home runs.

This game put an end to his successful streak, as the Yankees pounded on Jered Weaver, scoring 7 earned runs off and smashing 3 home runs against him.

The ace didn’t make it to the 6th inning for the first time since May 3rd.

On the Yankees' side, A-Rod hit the highlight reel once again, collecting 4 hits on his quest for 3,000 hits. One of those hits was an RBI single, which gave him sole possession of second place on the all-time RBI list.

Trivia: This marks A-Rod’s first 4-hit game since May 22, 2011.

This was certainly a pitcher’s duel between the veteran Yovani Gallardo and White Sox rookie Carlos Rodon.

Rodon put on quite a show, striking out 10 batters and surrendering only 1 run in 6 innings of work.

Fun Fact: At the young age of 22, Rodon is the youngest White Sox pitcher with 10+ K’s since Jason Bere back in 1993.

The highlight of this game is when Ben Zobrist hit a grand slam in the 7th inning to put the A’s up by 2 runs.

Unfortunately for the Tigers, the final score would stay that way.

The kid who caught the ball in the right field bleachers certainly wasn’t happy.

Coming into this game, Joc Pederson had hit a home run in 5 straight games. That streak is officially over, as the rookie slugger’s farthest hit in this game was a stand-up double.

It was, however, incredibly close from being a solo shot to the opposite field, as it bounced off the wall.
