I’d probably be pissed if I got uppity-ass bougie sandwich with an “all-white meat chicken fillet”.

In the inspiring words of Travis Brody (from “Hannah Montana: The Movie”):

Life’s a climb… but the view is great.

Miley would reiterate this quote right after she spots him in the crowd while performing in a concert.

This is the most memorable lyric of the entire piece. She is implying that the path to achieving a certain goal is the most important part to building character. The reward is not as significant.

In Shakespeare’s play, Hamlet, there are lines in Act 3, Scene 2 about a man dying:

So long? Nay then, let the devil wear black, for
I’ll have a suit of sables. O heavens! die two
Months ago, and not forgotten yet? Then there’s
Hope a great man’s memory may outlive his life half
A year: but, by'r lady, he must build churches,
Then; or else shall he suffer not thinking on, with
The hobby-horse, whose epitaph is ‘For, O, for, O,
The hobby-horse is forgot.’

Hautboys play. The dumb-show enters

During those days, churches and cathedrals were built not only for God, but for powerful men to make a lasting impact on the world. These men wanted to show off their power and wealth and thus be remembered.

Furthermore, Hamlet takes place in Denmark – where the previous rapper, U$o, hails from.

Pop your (Katy) “Perry on”

Two cute ways of referring to the gentleman’s act of sexual release, while also sticking with the theme of “partying”.

Dom Pérignon is a brand of champagne.

Lots of party favors (often called confetti shooters/confetti poppers) contain colorful confetti and streamers in a space where the air is compressed so that, when one pops, confetti shoots right out… similarly to how champagne in a bottle continues to ferment while in the bottle.

Many believe that the music for “Roar” was plagiarized. The chords are almost identical to Sara Bareilles’s 2013 single, “Brave.” Both songs are written in the key of B♭ major, contain a similar plinky piano production, and share a moderate tempo of 88-92 beats per minute.

Regardless, Katy Perry and Sara Bareilles appear to be great friends.

#FactCheck:

According to Factcheck.org’s January 2014 update, the U.S. economy has gained a net total of 3,246,000 jobs since Obama first took office. The number to which Obama is referring is the number of jobs that have been added since the U.S.’s lowest point: February 2010 (129,320,000 jobs).

136,877,000 – 129,320,000 = 7,657,000… which is less than (but reasonably rounded to) his proclaimed number of 8 million.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics provides evidence of this, as well:

As expressed in the beginning of the verse, he continues to use a dichotomous metaphor to describe the values of his dream woman, and how she represents the values and behaviors in which he grew up. At the end of the day, she fundamentally stands with her spiritual values.

To quote Common from MTV News:

She might get high, and you can get high with her; she might drink [or] smoke a J […] but at the end of the day, she’s still got her Bible there. And it’s like the money’s right there but she’s got her Bible. And that’s really the foundation […] like I’m talking about being in the neighborhood, but there’s values in the hood, too. There’s values to this whole “come-up” aspect.

Comparing anyone’s sexual experience to gorillas mating isn’t exactly the best description.

Todd in the Shadows goes into more detail with this concept, and actually provides a better example: making love like Bonobos (a species of great ape who has sex frequently… although it usually lasts only for a few seconds, and usually in a more intimate and soothing way… nothing rough or “animalistic”, as Mars describes it).
