In an NPR interview, one of the band members said:

[Fior Di Latte] is a song about desire, fior di latte being the most erotic ice cream the Italian could imagine…

So I would say it’s our kind of… “Little Red Corvette” was Prince’s choice, so we, as Europeans, picked Fior di Latte."

T-Pain refers to the intro to Lil Wayne’s song “Lollipop”, in which he says:

I said he’s so sweet, make her wanna lick the wrapper
So I let her lick the rapper

The original line was a play on the homophone pair “wrapper/rapper.” However, because T-Pain is best known for his singing abilities, he changes the last word to “singer.”

“Like Suicide” is the 15th song from Soundgarden’s Superunknown.

The song was inspired by a robin that crashed into one of his house’s windows while recording the song.

Vocalist Chris Cornell alludes to this in a 2014 interview with Rolling Stone.

[…] the narrative is not a metaphor. It’s a big moment that happened while I was recording the song. I had all the music and was recording a demo arrangement in my basement. And when I came upstairs, I heard a thud against the window, and it was a female robin that had fallen into the window and broke her neck, and was just laying there. I didn’t know what to do. So I ended up smashing her with a brick, putting her out of her misery. I didn’t want to sit there and watch her suffer. Then when I went back down to finish recording, I decided that would be the lyrics to the song. As much as it sounds like I’m singing about a person and the metaphor is sort of the bird in flight and then [it] dies […]

Home Runs of October 30, 2016

The Cubs live to see another day, as they win a nail biter against the Indians. It was Chicago’s first World Series game win at Wrigley Field for the first time since 1945.

The first two runs came off a few heavy swings from Jose Ramirez and Kris Bryant, respectively. Bryant’s homer was the beginning of a three-run rally, which was enough to secure the victory thanks to some great pitching from Jon Lester and Aroldis Chapman.

The World Series heads back to Cleveland, as they play Game 6 on November 1.

Home Runs of October 26, 2016

The Cubs evened the score at one apiece, as they defeated the Indians, 5-1, in Game 2 of the World Series.

The Cubs got their offense going early, with Anthony Rizzo drilling an RBI double in the 1st inning. The game opened up in the 5th inning after Ben Zobrist tripled in a run, Kyle Schwarber collected an RBI single, and Addison Russell drew a bases-loaded walk (one of 8 walks drawn against Cleveland).

Kyle Schwarber didn’t see a single pitch in the Big Leagues for nearly 6 months, yet two days into his 2016 postseason, he’s collected 3 hits and 2 RBI.

Jake Arrieta pitched 5 1/3 no-hit innings. Jason Kipnis ended the bid with a double up the middle; he’d eventually score on a wild pitch.
