A reference to Jay-Z and Beyonce’s recent trip to Havana, which some Cuban-American congressmen objected to. He treats Havana like Atlanta, walking around and sight seeing, smokin Cubans, living it up! Even though it’s almost illegal to be doing the same thing in Cuba.

Jay-Z is also playing with the historical context from the beginning. Atlanta is regarded as a “Black Mecca” in the U.S. and Havana has an equal and arguably greater place in Black History. So Jay-Z is just bringing attention back once again to the great connection Havana has to Black America. Cuban-American U.S. Representatives Mario Diaz-Balart and Ileana Ros-Lehtinen wrote a letter to the Treasury Department in which they expressed concern about Jay-Z and Beyonce’s trip to Cuba. In the letter, both said they represent a community that has been “deeply and personally harmed by the Castro regime’s atrocities.”

“The restrictions on tourism travel are commonsense measures meant to prevent U.S. dollars from supporting a murderous regime that opposes U.S. security interests at every turn and which ruthlessly suppresses the most basic liberties of speech, assembly and belief,” they complained
