Though a “trip down memory lane” is a cliché for gentle reminiscence, “brace yourself” implies that his memories may not be very tame.

This is underlined by the pitchy, anxious delivery of the verse. The slight falsetto may serve to punctuate that this is a foray into the past, as he takes on the persona of “young Kendrick” or “K.Dot”.

In m.A.A.d. city, Kendrick gives us a look inside his experiences as a child and adolescent growing up in Compton.

Nas similarly took us on a “trip down memory lane” back in 1994. Nas was only 19 years old when Illmatic was released (the album “Memory Lane” is on); Kendrick was 25 when good kid, m.A.A.d city dropped. When asked how Nas could reminisce about his childhood when he was just a teenager, he replied: “I was forced to live a faster life as a kid … I felt like I was a grown man when I was 14.”

“Juggalos” are what fans of the rap group Insane Clown Posse call themselves. Many of them paint their faces to pay homage to the group’s members who also paint their faces to look like clowns.

The term itself seems to be a mix up of the words “Juggler” and “Gigolo.” So in other words, skilled clowns who get paid to fuck.

A rhetorical question (a question you already know the answer to or one that doesn’t require an answer); it is asked to the musician or person by the ‘big man’, whoever he is.

The irony lies in the fact that even though the question is a plain and direct one, pertaining to what the person was doing up to this time, the big man already knows the answer or whatever response the person/musician might give.

This can also refer to the executive asking the question because he’s supposed to, but not really caring about the answer.

It is reflective of the long industry ladder that one must climb to become a ‘big man’.

Getting “throwed” means getting fucked up, whether from weed, coke, alcohol or whatever.

Fucking hoes is pretty self explanatory, but getting “dome” is another way of saying he’s getting “head.” Or, in simpler terms, a blowjob. Mentioning counting money here, he probably means he does this while getting “dome.”

Juicy J wants to get high and stay that way. “Coming down” means becoming sober and not being “high” anymore. One way to avoid this is simply to roll up and burn (smoke) another blunt or seven. Or eight. Whatever.

Turning up means getting wild or excessively crazy. Typically used in the context of a party.

Chasing fast money is a metaphor for how fast things happen in the music and entertainment industry. Once you get in the fast lane you can’t slow down.

To “pour up four up” can mean two things. He could be saying to pour four cups of alcohol, or he could be saying to pour 4 ounces of cough syrup in his cup. Two ounces is the standard measure, but in this case, it’s going down so he wants to double up.

Patrick Henry famously said, “Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death.” Simply put, without free will, life is not worth living.

Plumbing is a significant part of the infrastructure of a civilized society. Angel uses it as a metaphor. What she means is the same as what Patrick Henry meant; what do we have if we do not have freedom?

Freedom is also mentioned in the verse before this one.

What we need is freedom
Trying to get all that I can get
