Not only should you see your doctor to deal with remaining buildup, but also because you have not solved the issue! Gout is caused by a few key things in most cases: bad diet high in meat, too much alcohol, or an existing condition. Treating these can eliminate/mitigate the entire gout risk.

Corticosteroids are a fairly common drug group, all of which have the wonderful effect of rapidly decreasing swelling, pain, and other gross side effects of gout. By loosening your veins and skin and cutting down on flow-killing swelling, the crystals can break loose and flow through your blood, ending the gout plague.

Uric acid is a very common “acid” produced in the body – in fact, everyone has it! Uric acid is part of a group of compounds called purines (interestingly, caffeine is one of them!) that can be found in meats, particularly organs. You come across these nearly every day.

Normally, the body flushes these out. Sometimes, though, your liver fails, mostly due to natural causes, bad diet, or too much drinking. The uric acid builds up, hardens, and blocks your blood flow, killing the flesh and verins.

The former is useful – the Common App, and colleges, will sometimes reach you by email (patly because it is much easier, partly because they want to seem hip). That “seeming hip” reason is the same reason that they ask for your “IM Address.” Chances are, you no longer have this.

ACCEPTED COMMENT: Also, this is a great time to start using a professional email address – something like first initial dot last name at gmail works wonderfully. You’ll want it in college and beyond anyway.

The key line here is that, even if nobody claims you, you still must write the dependent tax credit amount! Since you meet the qualifications (the largest of which is that you do not fully support yourself), your tax liability is still different, claimed or not. Read up on dependency first and fill this out.

Pensions and annuities, both in the realm of retirement money, are income. Do not try to hide this fact – you will get caught. There are some cases, however, when this money is not taxed. Namely, this happens when the money you contributed to the annuity/pension in the past, whether through direct contributions or paycheck withholdings, was already taxed! Anything that has not yet been taxed, including pensions that you never contributed to, should go in box 12b

IRAs are a pain: the long-term retirement plans dodge a lot of tax, but bring their own set of painful codes. Read up on what qualifies.

Here is the generalized answer: everything can be found on box 1 of Form 1099-R, which your IRA holder should send you. After this, everything gets complicated. Either buckle up and learn everything about how IRAs work or hire a pro. Again, the penalties make it work the up-front costs.

The 1099-R highlights IRA plans and other such retirement funds. If you have any of these, you should have received a 1099-R from the holding firm(s). Even if your did not receive the paperword, you are responsible for the details!

Simply take box 4 and box 10 from the 1099-R. Add those values up – if the value is anything other than zero, you will need to attach the form with your taxes.

#DO NOT MAIL CASH. EVER!

Common sense, but think of how many people still do this…

Your best bet is to enclose a check or money order, making sure to follow IRS instructions carefully. Please, please do not staple the check to the page – that does not work.

If you plan on paying with the form, you’ll also need to grab and mail the 1040-V, a payment voucher.

A W-2 is a brilliant breakdown of wages earned and taxes withdrawn from your pay – it does all of the work for you! You should receive one of these every year, from each job, before January 31st. It is worth making sure that your employer has your correct contact information on hand before this date.

You may claim off-the-books money as income, such as money earned selling on eBay or babysitting. However, these quantities have limits and must be filed on a standard 1099 form, rather than a W-2.

Literally staple this guy in!
