This form of historiographic familial listing is not new to Russian literature, nor literature itself. The very same extended descriptions of family can be found in Tolstoy’s War and Peace, and in the most clear and famous example, the The Bible:

“And Seth lived a hundred and five years, and begat Enos: and Seth lived after he begat Enos eight hundred and seven years, and begat sons and daughters: and all the days of Seth were nine hundred and twelve years: and he died.”

Why? The tradition and modern examples are part of oral history, a way of passing down history with high volumes of information with ease. It also instantly creates the setting, clearing pages for plot.

While others burn off their chance of success in the figurative “15 minutes,” Curren$y “stretches” his for years, building a lifetime career off of one chance. The popular toy Stretch Armstrong’s body could do the same, turning a normal arm into one a mile long.

When Hit-Boy goes from the uncut, grown out hairstyle to a “low fade,” he brings sexy back. If his entire lifestyle didn’t make every woman jealous, the haircut sent it all overboard.

A “standard” rap verse is 16 lines long. 4 times 4 sixteen – Hit-Boy could have just said 16, but “4 times 4s” just sounds better!

Private communities and clubs aren’t known for their tolerance. Originally a fixture of the “Old South” elite, golf clubs and neighborhoods are sometimes racism hotbeds, literally “shunning” blacks for participating.

Hit-Boy, though, is part of a new black elite, that for the first time is on par with whites in America. He, along with people like Jay-Z and Kanye West, can finally afford to type in the door codes to the places that, up until today, refused access to all but wealthy white men.

As they said before, most, if not all, Internet communications will pass through the US at some point. What this means is that “terrorist” and “target” communications can more than likely be traced when they enter and exit US nodes.

What’s the problem? This blurs the meaning of “US only” communications monitoring. If it all comes from and leaves the US, does that not make all communications fair game?

Being like Jesus seems like more of a lifestyle thing instead of a “it’s Tuesday, let’s be good…”

The contrast to the badness of the song is Jesus, a de facto symbol for purity and holiness. While Walker sometimes just wants to drink and raise hell, he also grew up under religion and sees the value in morality. He spends most of his days piously.

Walker’s comparison is perfect – James was one of the most un-Jesusy people to live.
