Pelican Bay State Prison is a remote prison in northern California with almost all maximum-security inmates. Gang leaders smuggle letters out of the Bay with parolees and visitors so that they can stay in touch with gang operations. Basically, this letter is from a serious gangster.

Rubin “Hurricane” Carter served in a reformatory for three years until he ran away at the age of 17 and served in the military. Upon his return he was arrested for running away and jail a few more times for assauts, robberies, and muggings. He was arrested for a triple homicide, tried and convicted (incorrectly) twice. His case was overturned in 1985.
