Hussle made a name for himself before being signed to Epic Records in 2008. His 2005 project Slauson Boy, Volume 1 caught the label’s eye, and he stayed with Epic until 2010.

A reference to the popular idiom “Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me”

All Jay Rock is doing, is rapping. Despite his lines and verses just being words, and can’t physically hurt anyone, other rappers are terrified of being targeted by Jay Rock, and they tremble in fear (“bones quiver”). So they attempt pre-emptive strikes by physical means simply out of fear that he may target them.

Jay Rock claims he “heard” these attempts, so they never actually hit him.

Setting the bar is a commonly used idiom, meaning to set the standard. It’s easy for Drake to set the standard and his competition are under the bar he is setting like they are playing a game of limbo

Considering the Memento reference just before, “limbo” might also have a double meaning: the dream space, or “limbo” in the movie Inception (both movies are directed by Christopher Nolan), is where you believe dreams are reality. These other rappers are dreaming if they think they can match Drizzy.

Drake is referencing the idea of “standing the test of time”

He doubts these other rappers you think are hot (are “checkin' for”) will even be around/relevant in 10 years. He feels like he will be the last one standing after the competition is weeded out. Like he said on 5AM in Toronto:

Some niggas been here for a couple, never been here again

Drake also says in Over My Dead Body, the opening track from Take Care:

Feel like I’ve been here before, huh?
I still got 10 years to go, huh?

2 years on he still thinks he has 10 years, so maybe he’ll always want another decade at the top.

“Whole set” refers to his OVO crew. Drake plays off the tennis reference (set) to say they’re all playing tennis at his house – i.e. his house is big enough to have a tennis court.

Drake fancies himself the rap game Serena Williams who is the number one ranked women’s tennis player. Drake actually did play Serena, and beat her, while she was using her left hand

Drake is thinking about his peers from school (he went to Forest Hill CI). They are all doing their own thing now, likely working a normal job 9-5. A “chartered accountant.” It is the Canadian equivalent of the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in the US.

He doesn’t doubt though that he crosses their mind sometimes. He alludes to the fact that some of them may have treated him badly, but now that he’s made it, they probably regret it.

He’s so big time that he probably shouldn’t even waste his time going to his high school reunion, but he is considering going just to belittle them with his presence.

Drake is questioning the other rappers in the game and wondering how many of them are as successful in record sales as him. Especially since his albums are selling more like pop albums, which is the best selling genre. We already know he’s “got the most number ones ever.”

Many people think he says “Pac” here. Even if he is referencing 2Pac, he’d be doing pretty well: including his posthumous released work, nine of Pac’s albums went platinum, and All Eyez On Me alone went 9x platinum

This is a double entendre:

Nipsey feels like he has his home town of Slauson, California on his back (a popular idiom) as well as literally having the words “Slauson Boy” tattooed on his back.
