Most people don’t understand and can’t relate to people dealing with chronic depression, so people suffering sometimes hide their pain, or at least a part of it, when relatives ask why they look depressed, to avoid that judgmental look of “get over it, it’s not that big of a deal”

Shing02 dedicated this song to one of his fan, a beatboxer named Jeff Ressureccion, who died from cancer in January 2010.

Shing said on his facebook that the first verse of this song was excusively for Jeff but lines about getting blind-sided and eating a windshield makes one think that the verse was rewritten to include Nujabes, who died in car accident, almost 2 months after Jeff died.

It’s important to note that the Chorus is a direct reference to the old popular german song ‘Die Moritat von Mackie Messerr’ or ‘Mack the Knife’.

The Mack the Knife chorus goes:

Und der Haifisch, der hat Zähne,
Und die trägt er im Gesicht.
Und Mackie, der hat ein Messer,
Doch das Messer sieht man nicht.”

Translated:

And the shark, he has teeth
and he wears them in his face,
And mackie he has a knife
and the knife cannot be seen.

This further adds to the meaning pointed out, contrasting popular opinions on sharks (comparing them to assassins and cold-blooded killers).
