“Don’t get lost in the dangerous world” is a metaphor for going down the wrong path and abusing yourself with drug addiction. Stay inside and run along is a metaphor for when u feel the urge to try the drugs, DONT! Also plays along his earlier lines of “Sometimes I wanna just be normal like them other kids”, on rainy days during elementary school, kids stay inside, so staying inside plays off that line in being a kid and staying inside, while this is not going down the wrong path and not doing drugs.

Who is J Cole to criticize the drug dealers when all in all, everyones goal is to get money, just like Cole.

In poker, you can win the pot with almost any hand practically. Cole made it in a different lane i.e. he had slightly better cards. He doesn’t discourage people from trying to play their hand but they might not have as good a hand as he does.

For a few years, Maybach stopped producing new cars, so they didn’t make them like they used to. However, recently they have started production again.

Wale is therefore comparing this “one of a kind” beauty with looks that you can no longer find to the exclusive styling of these no longer produced Maybachs.

Wale also makes homage to his friend J. Cole’s song “Work Out” where he also compares a girl to a car:

Could you be my escort? Cause just like them 2-door Fords
Damn, they don’t make them like you no more

Whilst also referring to a car (drive), Wale himself could be talking about two things:

  1. His ambition (drive) to succeed with his rap career.

  2. His sex drive, which leaves women feeling something like this:

These lines also tie in with the “road rage” mentioned previously. If he gets a bit wild in the sack, it’s really just because he can’t control himself.

Game has always been counted out, and certainly the chance of making it successful out of Compton must have been slim.

Note: “I’m cool in the dog house” is an example of wordplay, as he’s been an underdog his whole life.

To look your best in the nicest clothes, those clothes have to be ironed. But to go further, that iron has Fiji Water in it, a brand of expensive mineral water.

By this, Bas means he has to be without contaminates in the sense of both his appearance and the people he associates himself with. Fiji Water is completely clean water, unlike tap water.
