All the players of the football (soccer) club AFC Ajax did the ice bucket challenge.
They were nominated by a Dutch radio-DJ (Edwin Evers).

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MBMlzpLHlcE

Before screaming like a bunch of teen girls who just got touched by Bieber, they nominated one of their rivals: PSV, the club they’re facing in the league this sunday (24-8-14).
They also nominated the referee for sunday, Bjorn Kuipers.
And finally, the mayor of Amsterdam Eberhard van der Laan.

I hope they’ll be manlier against PSV.

Jackass-star Steve-O did the ice bucket challenge, but didn’t nominate anyone and was very skeptical of the whole idea.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=56j1eQKaaOU

Steve-O thinks the idea of raising awareness for ALS is great, but a lot of celebrities didn’t even bother saying anything about the ALS disease or where to donate. Steve-O himself donated $1,000.

He left this message on his Facebook page:

TO ALL THE PEOPLE WHO GOT MAD AT ME FOR THIS VIDEO: Since the ice bucket challenge began, over 15 million dollars has been raised for ALS research. I think that’s great, but when you consider the countless A-list celebrities who have actively gotten behind this cause by posting videos– the fact that not more than fifteen million dollars has been raised is a tragedy. It’s tragic because I don’t think many of those celebrities even bothered to mention how or where to donate money for ALS research. Most of them just poured water over their heads and named three random people, without including any “call to action” which actually benefits victims of ALS at all. Had all those celebrities given this cause any thought, hundreds of millions of dollars might have been raised, and a whole lot more awareness. Let’s start a new trend– by actually letting people know how to donate– visit this page: http://www.alsa.org/donate/ I’m nowhere near as rich or famous as many of the folks you’ve seen pour water on their heads, but I cared enough to get educated and donate one thousand dollars of my hard-earned money to http://www.alsa.org/donate/

With love, Steve-O

Siem de Jong will obviously score his first goal for Newcastle, but I’m going with a 1-1 as well.

Update: Siem was sooo close :(

Okay, before you start reading: don’t expect too much

Although outer space always interested me, I’m not a space-expert
So please don’t get your nerdy hopes up.
My study got nothing to do with space, so I’m trying to not confuse and tire my poor brain too much with this sort of stuff.
Therefore, the knowledge I have is quite basic.

Neil deGrasse Tyson, and everyone else who knows a lot about this subject, you probably won’t learn anything new. Click away.

I hope everyone else enjoyed this.

Also: Some of this stuff might just be wrong or outdated.
Please believe me, I always try to search for reliable sources, but you never know.
Be a nice person and correct me in the comments if necessary.

There are 3 traditional ‘Ajax-songs’ that always get played before and during games.

Bob Marley – Three Little Birds

This was first played in 2008 during Ajax – Cardiff City.
Cardiff’s DJ started playing a bunch reggea songs (and the Ajax-supporters loved it.)
One of which was Bob Marley’s Three Little Birds, which is still played to this day.

Kees Prins – Dit is Mijn Club

(‘This is my club’)
This was originally used in a Dutch sketch programme ‘Jiskefet’.

It tells the story about a boy who gets selected for Ajax, his favourite club.

It specifically tells us that no matter what happens, whether we win or lose, there ain’t a better club than Ajax.

Although this was first used in a sketch, Kees Prins, sang this during an Ajax (league title) ceremony.

I really love this touchy song and I’ll proudly tell you:
I crie efritiem :‘)

André Hazes – Bloed, Zweet en Tranen

(‘Blood, Sweat and Tears’)
André Hazes was a very famous Dutch singer and Ajax-fan.
He passed away in 2004 at the age of 53.

His funeral was actually held in the Amsterdam Arena.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-KlaPdoVNj4#t=15s
As you can see in this video, while playing the song, the DJ usually mutes the song for a few seconds so that the supporters can’t just pretend they’re singing, like you did in school.
This sometimes even continue a while after the whistle for the 1st or 2nd half.

Little background information:
Before WW2, Ajax had a lot of Jewish supporters.
So to mock Ajax, the rival supporters started calling us ‘Joden’ (jews).

The Ajax supporters took over this nickname and turned it into a ‘Geuzennaam’.
They turned it into something positive.

That’s the reason why a lot of our chants involve Jews, and why you often see an Israelian flag in the crowd.

I’ve seen people who are Anti-Ajax because of this (and because of the Israel-Palestina situation).
For the love of fuck, please be smarter than that.
It got nothing to do with the country Israel or actual Jews and their actions.

A Few Chants:

1:

Waar komen Joden toch vandaan?
-Israël hier ver vandaan

Wonen daar ook superjoden?
-Ja daar wonen superjoden
Vinden Joden voetbal fijn?
-Als ze maar voor Ajax zijn.

AMSTERDAM, AMSTERDAM, AMSTERDAM

(Translation, sort of:)

Where do Jews come from?
-Israel, far from here
Is it (Israel) inhabited with ‘Superjews’? (another nickname)
-Yes it’s inhabited with Superjews
Do Jews like football?
-(who cares) as long as they support Ajax

I always find this chant hilarious.
The first line starts with a question (Where do Jews come from?)
This is asked by supporters in a certain part in the stadium, and answered by supporters from a complete other side.
This goes on for 2 more questions.

Watch the videos I’ve linked and you’ll hear what I mean.

(Let me just remind you that the translated version doesn’t rhyme and is absolute shit.)

2:

Dit is de club waar ik zo trots op ben
De club waar ik zoveel van houd
Waar je ook gaat ik volg je overal
Ja, ik blijf je altijd trouw
wohooohoho wohohoooh wij zijn Ajax Amsterdam

Translation:

This is the club that makes me so proud
The club that I adore so much
Where ever you’ll go, I’ll always follow you
Yes, I’ll always stay loyal to you
wooohooooh We are Ajax Amsterdam!

3:

Wij zijn Ajax, Wij zijn de beste!

Translation:

We are Ajax, we are the best!

4:

Ajax Joden, Super Joden
Hey Hey!

Translation:

Ajax Jews, Superjews
Hey Hey!
