Robert Lewandowski is the shining striker of Borussia Dortmund, with his 2012-2013 season utterly impressive.

By the end of the season, Lewandowski was able to score 24 league goals, second only to Bayer Leverkusen’s Stefan Kießling, with the divide only composed of one single goal. However, Lewandowski was still able to obtain these fantastic results despite missing some games, two as a result of red cards.

In international competitions, Robert Lewandowski raised a huge uproar with his stunning performance against star-studded Real Madrid in the Champion’s League semifinals, scoring an impressive 4 goals within the first leg of the semifinals, thus leading Dortmund towards the finals against their fellow league rivals, Bayern Munich.

To top his impressive performances in the 2012-2013 campaign, he also won Polish Player of the Year, and it was also a consecutive award.

Due to his performances, he shook up the world, and so in the following season (2013-2014) he attracted the attention of rivals Bayern Munich, and as a result enticed them and is now in a pre-contractual agreement with Bayern to play for them in the 2014-2015 season.

Not a bad season at all.

TLDR Stats/Major Accomplishments:

  • 24 league goals (second place in league goals)
  • 10 Champions League goals (second place in Champions League goals)
  • Hat-trick against strong opponent (against Real Madrid)
  • Polish Player of the Year

K.R.I.T. is referring to how, even after putting out 5 albums worth of material (1 major label album, 4 free mixtapes), it took a name drop from Kendrick Lamar to wake the mainstream up and finally reach a greater level of recognition for his music.

The 5 albums K.R.I.T. refers to are:

Krizzle then references his country roots, which is an important theme in this song. For years, Southern artists have been the backbone of Hip Hop culture, ever since Scarface and the Geto Boys. Much of the diversity in Hip Hop throughout the 1990’s and 2000’s was owed to the diffusion of Hip Hop culture from NY to the Southern U.S., through Houston, Atlanta, and New Orleans, out towards the West Coast, and then back again.

Despite this, southern artists have always been marginalized by mainstream Hip Hop, for many reasons. Specifically, K.R.I.T. talks about the misrepresentation of Southern Rap, not just by major labels but also by other artists. For example, 50 Cent claimed back in 2006 that Southern Rap was hurting Hip Hop and called it “simplified”.

“Popping [pills]” is a slang term for the consumption of tablets – on this occasion, recreationally.
Yung Lean uses the simile of how spots/boils are popped on the skin and how he takes (“pops”) his drugs, namely, ecstasy.

This same girl Action continues to talk about attempted to ruin Bronson by calling the 5-0 on him (the boys), with her people/associates (your boys).

Because of her trying to turn Action in to the cops (for reasons so far unnamed), he can’t forgive her, and is devastated by her treachery.

Yet another line adding to the large culture of no snitching, because snitches get stitches.

Each time that Action leaves this girl, he always feels like he’ll be done with her for good, and not come back. However, he eventually returns to this love, despite his habitual doubts.

Of course Chef Bronson describes the love as seasonal, in reference to seasoning, used to enhance the flavor of a dish, whether it be as simple as adding salt, to adding some exquisite spice from India or Morocco.

Knowing Bronson being the chef and food lover he is, it’s more likely some fancy herbs will do him the job.

A common theme used for rap puns, metaphors, similes, etc. is fire, heat, and smoke. It’s also referencing a line from “My Melody”:

Drop the mic when I’m finished and watch it smoke

Often fire is attributed to one having great lines and verses, therefore in this line, Rakim declares that he would let microphones with which he rapped smoke, as a result of him spitting fire a.k.a. spitting great rhymes and verses.

In his TEDx talk, Baba Brinkman explained the idea that rap isn’t just music, but also an innovative form of contemporary poetry. Also, he demonstrated that Rakim by use of “I ain’t no joke“ intuitively understood what it means to remove yourself from comedic context of rhyming.

Nicolas “Nic” Cage is an American actor.

In more recent years, Cage has earned a reputation for starring in critically panned movies.
His casting choices of late are the complete opposite to that of those in earlier years, where he had several successful big films that would receive plenty of praise, with some even winning awards.

It has become a running joke that while Nic Cage is a great actor, his judgement in deciding what films to star in is not so good. In this lyric, Yung Lean joins in the fun and makes a little quip of his own.

A ranked list of Cage’s best to worst movies is available at the link below.
