His new chick doesn’t like when he lights up in the house. But Rockie owns the place so it doesn’t phase him.

Rockie also creates a double entendre with “She prefer I light candles”.
1. Candles repel the smell of the chronic he’s burning
2. He also uses this as a reference for sex. When the candles are lit, and the lights go off, you already know whats going down.

It may be hard to believe, but its already been 7 years since Lu’s debut. Rap has evolved in so many ways with new flows, new records, and new rappers since then. He’s seen the change and he clearly isn’t happy with it based off this song.

Lupe uses autotune to modify his voice, as if to say the game is not real anymore and possibly criticizing the new generation of rappers. In the following lines, Lu mentions Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz – artists who frequently use Autotune on their tracks.

The melody he uses for this part is suspiciously similar to some of the melodies Kendrick Lamar used on “Good Kid, M.A.A.D. City,” Specifically, “Bitch, Don’t Kill My Vibe.” compare the two and judge for yourself.
