The relationship has now progressed to some actual issues. It still isn’t over yet but now it seems increasingly likely to end soon.

This verse contains many of the same themes of the first verse though some have taken a new form:

  • JAY Z references — represent myself
  • blue — represents Blue, the love interest
  • bluejay — represents the relationship itself
  • alcohol (fire water) — represents detrimental conflict in the relationship
  • death — represents end of the relationship
  • money – represents our time left together

This verse contains 42 lines as opposed to the first verse’s 43 which is also part of the large theme that encompasses the entire song structure. This is explained later…

Party Life

When you’re blue, and got nothin to do
Welcome to the party life

Back to the Noah metaphor. I spend my days and nights at 40/40 Club living it up to try to satisfy my yearning. I’m partying like it’s my last day.

40/40 happens to be owned by none other than JAY Z.

‘03 Bonnie & Clyde

Eyes behind shades, this necklace the reason
All of my dates been blind dates

This goes back to the light/darkness motif. A blue sun represents being with Blue while a blue moon represents the impossible challenge of earning her love.

Since she is so bright, I need shades, but I wear blue shades which imposes a blueish tinge over everything. I literally see nothing but blue. However, if the sun goes down and there is no light at all, there won’t even be a blue tinge.
