Sometimes in between stages, Vincent will talk to sheep that are willing to share their techniques on how to stay alive.

Katherine trying to stick him with a fork (because he is about to be stuck with her as she wants him to marry her) and a baby (because she is pregnant) are examples of these fears.

As Vincent is ascending the puzzle, various creatures chase and try to kill him. These are nightmare versions of things he is afraid of.

There are a lot of sheep to kill to win this game. Thus the “flock” reference. “Whacking” is what its called when members of the Mafia kill someone. Since the protagonists name is Vincent, an Italian name, this fit. Sheep make a sound called bleating which would be the equivalent to the sound a person makes when they scream. This is also a play on words as “Whack a flock of” sounds like “Waka Flocka”, a shortened version of the name of rapper Waka Flacka Flame. He is famous for the song “Hard in da Paint”. When you die in this game, you land hard on the ground painting the ground with your blood.

“Know the Ledge” is a song written by the GOD MC, Rakim Allah, specifically for the 1992 movie Juice, wherein Rakim masterfully delivers a first person narrative of a thug whose craving for power and fame leads to his bloody demise. This fits because, as a play on words, Vincent needs to show the other sheep “the ledge” before they do the same to him.

The goal of the puzzle sequences is to get to the top before time runs out and without using up your finite amount of moves. As time runs out the lower levels collapse and if you are on them you drop too. The way to ascend is to move the blocks into configurations that allow you to climb them. There are traps along the way that will push you off or hinder your progression.

Even when Vincent is cheating, he feels guilty. If Katherine finds out she will likely leave him

The puzzle sequences in this game take place when Vincent dreams. The puzzles are timed.

This is a reference to the Shaggy song “Boombastic” in which he calls himself Mr. Lover Lover. Vincent is not a ladies man at all.

Vincent never had any intentions on being with Catherine. His friend suggested allowing him to take her off of his hands.
