He continues to ask himself questions he never has the answers to…do people understand and support him? or do they think he’s a whiny brat and want him to stfu and gtfo? Should he even CARE since they enjoy his music so much?

Jonny admits that he might have a few screws loose but he blames it on the world at large, rather than himself.

A lot of his stubbornness, paranoia and general opinions seem to be linked to his mental issues and he wonders if people understand his point of view or if they just think he’s totally insane; from the looks of it, it seems to be a bit of both…

Jonny has a tendency to disregard people with authority if he feels as if their opinions make less sense than his or they can’t logically justify and defend their opinions or rules…he really is quite stubborn…

This might not always be a bad quality to have though, seeing as these people tend to throw their weight around for personal gain rather than speaking and acting in favor of fairness.

People with authority (parents, teachers, principals, police etc..) can be douchebags quite frankly and they tend to abuse their power at times, so when they realize they can’t control Jonny or anybody as rebellious as he is, they try to find other ways to assert their authority, often by way of punishment (or in the case of Jonny’s school situation, by way of threatening to call the police on him and having him banned from the school).

Once again though, Jonny’s paranoia is subtly apparent in the way he worded this line…

It’s not hard to tell that Jonny El Rey isn’t just like everyone else, even though he’s expected to be. He’s misunderstood and far from being the menace “they” seem to think he is.

He’s high and he’s not looking at things as they appear on the surface, but he’s thinking deeply and carefully about pretty much everything…

All he’s really doing is trying to live his dreams and do things his way and somehow it causes conflict between him and the authoritative figures in his life and as a result, his life has become unnecessarily complicated and difficult.

He believes he’s terribly misunderstood, as older folks tend to give him nasty looks because of his appearance and they judge him based on superficial qualities.

He also has a strained relationship with his parents and his mother thinks he’s going down the wrong path and often prays for him.
