Really creative line here. After you get kicked out of your home (see the previous line), you figuratively have all of your possessions tossed into the street. As he is now poor, he is likely getting much of his clothing from the thrift shop and having to tailor it to make it fit him properly.
This is all also a way to describe his relationship. When he looked at his thrown out self, he knew he was still alive and had a desire to push on and to overcome his problems. Sure, now he is does not have much money to his name and has to try and fix himself up a lot to make himself look better, but please do not break his heart again or else he does not know how he will deal with it.
