Stealing a Mercedes Benz was a great idea until one of his boys wound up in jail for it and is saying if we ever hustle up to the point that we are moving a birdie of dope(which is 36 ounces or a key) we will both buy Benzes. You can make ALOT of money off of a bird The truth is most ppl never make it that high up in the game without getting locked up or killed, and while Freddie is notoriously about that life, he doesnt sugarcoat it in his raps the way alot of rappers do. So he’s kind of being sarcastic when he say’s sounds good until a nigga end up in the prison.

He says “If we make it to a birdie, then we coppin Benz', sound good until a nigga end up in the prison. He’s talking about selling dope until they have enough to have foreign cars, but knowing they will probably get locked up living that life. He is NOT talking about stealing a Benz.

The album is entitled “God’s Son” and in Christianity, God’s son is Jesus Christ, who is from the land of David and was born in Bethlehem and like all babies, was wrapped in blankets after birth.

Nas is also equating himself with the Davidic line of descent, from which the Messiah is said to spring.

Nas is also playing with the fact that, like Jesus, he was ‘wrapped in blankets’ – captured and mislead by the ‘backward gangsters’ around him.
