These lines set up a parallel between a disaster-stricken environment and Eminem’s relationship/emotional state. The tornado, a destructive natural phenomena, is a metaphor for the troubles Eminem faces. The use of torn instead of broken indicates a messier, more personal and thoughtful process.
By saying “Yesterday”, Eminem emphasizes that whoever went through this tragedy had survived it to tell the story. The morning, a homophone to the actual lyric “mourning”, insinuates that despite the damage, the sun will shine and the troubles will go away.

The show is a favorite of Kanye West’s, who has referenced the show in both “Flashing Lights” and “Bound 2”.
