Beyonce and Kelly are the only two in Destiny’s Child anyone cares about.

The reason I’m able to get by is because I don’t start drama, and I don’t get into confrontations. I’m a peacekeeper, or at least I try to be.

On one hand I strive to be the master of a style without form, to be able to make something from nothing… create from air. On the other hand I am endlessly conflicted by my thoughts. It’s like two separate beings inside me talking a language I don’t understand.

But if I do make it then you better sing my praises because I deserve it. And I better have it all, not a penny less.

The “they” is actually the fans/blogs/industry. I’ll have to keep walking through the hood to get to places until I get enough recognition and money to not have to walk in these places. The hope is that I don’t think I’m any better than anybody or start changing up because of that.

These are a few notable spots in Oakland that I’ve had to walk through to get to my destination, wherever that was at the time. I’ve never claimed to be hood, but I have had to move through some precarious places pretty regularly.

This is a joke about the last line because I said it the same way Yoda would. For those that don’t know, Yoda is the little green Jedi from Star Wars and he talks weird. “Failed I have… Strong this one is…” Stuff like that.

I play with the notion of falling a lot here (“slightest slip”, “timely trip”, “brings you down”) not for any specific reason other than to match with the mood of the beat.

The lane I’m choosing is a difficult one. I have to be on my P’s and Q’s to not get caught off my game.

Also, The Police is one of my dad’s favorite bands so I wanted to shout them out. Sting is the lead singer.
