So there is a choice: you can chase these THINGS and try to maintain your integrity, or you can strive for the things that aren’t physical and focus on actually being happy.

At the end of the day it’s almost comical what I go through searching for a certain status, chasing this hip-hop dream and trying to make it everything I’ve seen in my mind. I notice so many pitfalls, so many chances for evil to consume me, and yet I keep trying.

There is something to be said for a passion, and dreams such as mine cannot possibly be evil dreams. It is true, however, that evil taints my path and it becomes a tightrope walk; we are all trying to maintain that balance.

I now make a comment on society. Very few live a fairytale life and the people who live that “fairytale” generally cause massive destruction to maintain their luxury. And the sad part is that a majority of the financial minority aspire to achieve that status.

They are at a crossroads now. Will she get rid of the child? Can she go through all that and try to maintain helping this broken man? And if she has the child… will he be just like his father and disappear? Can he live with himself knowing there might be another child just like him in this world? Will he let her help him? Let her love him?

I absolutely LOVE this song.

This is the young woman trying to understand what the young man is going through. She is there for him despite how he treats her because she loves him and she’s seeking out the love in him. She is trying to help him feel.

The young woman is introduced here. She did not know his pain when she met him but she recognizes it now and she wants to help. She cannot tell how deep this is and probably doesn’t even know his history. The pain she sees in his presence compels her to feel compassion and love for him.

His mother and father separated before his birth. To compound that already rude upbringing they both died young.

When Muhammad Ali fought Ernie Terrell, he was yelling at Terrell “What’s my name?” while he was beating him up. Ali had changed his name from Cassius Clay and Terrell refused to acknowledge Ali’s new name or his Muslim faith.
