In Islam, there are 5 mandatory prayers due every day, which form one of the 5 pillars of Islam. The earliest prayer is fajr, known as the dawn prayer because it is supposed to be prayed between dawn and sunrise. It’s considered to be one of the most loved prayer by God. The prayer is challenging because most people are asleep, except not Outlandish, who are up and praying. Well, only 2 out of the 3 members of Outlandish could relate to this since in Catholicism, this is not the case.

In this day and age, just as easy it is to make a baby (impregnate a girl/woman), it is exactly the opposite when it comes to knowing how to raise one. Men are often known as “dead beat fathers” – men who have fathered children but do not take care of them. Waqas then mentions the birth of his own, a chance for him to prove that he is truly a worthy man who can raise a child in a respectable religious lifestyle.

His intentions to do good deeds and be a great abiding Muslim are there, but he isn’t able to get his life in order to do so. He has the cards, like in card games such as Poker, but he does not know how to win the game. This means he has the gift of knowledge (of Islam) and yet he is not able to use it to benefit himself and live a pure life. His honesty is touching since in this day and age, many religious figures are anything but humble and will present themselves as if they are the holiest on Earth.

In Islam, modesty is of the highest regards. In the Quran, the holy book in Islam, it states for men to lower their gaze when they look at another female, to show respect for them. Girls are told to do the same in the verse that follows.

Waqas Ali Wadri is a well known Muslim. He is saying the first look may be forgiven but he has been gazing a lot, to the point that this is his 5th look. He continues to confess his sins in this verse from the beginning.

Two of the 99 names of Allah. Allah in Arabic means “God.” In Islam, there are well known 99 names to describe the great entity.

Beneficent = Ar-Rahman in Arabic
The most high = Al Ali in Arabic

In the name of God = Bismillah.
This is basically a translation for bismillah irrahman nirrahim. To recite this right before any act is meant to bless the outcome for it. Therefore, Waqas is doing the same, by starting his verse with the beautiful poetic and strong phrase.

Wordplay: Auction, Sale

He was in a place of dissolute and loneliness. He felt soul less, not alive nor dead. He comes to a realization that in fact, he only feels like this is because his soul isn’t lost, but rather up for sale to the devil (something he doesn’t even remember doing). A common phenomenon, often treated as an idiom, has been talked about for centuries. Selling your soul to the devil has been rebirthed in mainstream media once again with musicians such as Rihanna and Jay-Z, known as the illuminati.

Remember The Simpsons where Bart Simpson sells his soul to the devil and completely regrets it later?

And let’s not forget Immortal Technique’s Dance With the Devil either.

Going off the two main concepts:

  1. He is saddened and in shock that she let the Angel of Death in her room to take her life away, to take her away from him. He cannot stop thinking about her and he has nightmares about her death all the time. He reiterates how he wished it could have him dying instead. He could also be saying he wished HE would have taken her away, instead of the Angel of Death.

  2. He is in disbelief she let this other guy in her room instead of him. He is in love with this woman and he is coming to terms with the fact she has chosen to be with someone else instead of him. He wished it was him entering her room and living out his dreams to be with her. Instead, now all he gets is nightmares.

The song has multiple interpretation. Two common conceptions:

  1. He wishes it was him who had passed away, and not her. He misses her dearly and her life means way more than his own to him.

  2. She chose another man to live her life with, instead of him. He is heart broken and her decision has left him feeling lonely and envious.
