Gucci and Versace are both luxury brands of clothing and accessories which have gained widespread popularity in mainstream American culture from namedrops in hip-hop, both of which having hit songs named after them.

“Gucci” is also another word for “good,” e.g. when asking “What’s Gucci?” or saying “It’s all Gucci.” Jup’s all good now, even though he’s been having his ups and downs with TPL.

He’s so desperate to get with this girl, he might do what most of us who aren’t exactly religious do when we really want something: actually pray.

Her “book” could be her phone book or her head; either way, he’s trying to prove himself to her.

This line could also be a wordplay referencing the Bible, a book full of prayers. He wants to be a part of her daily life, her ritual, to be important to her, just as he worships her. She’s so far out of his league it’s like an ancient tragedy (“When I dream of fairytales”). That’s one level.

On the next level, I’m sure “getting in her book” is a metaphor for her pussy, since “it looks rather dry”. And “a twinkle in her eye” is a bit of wetness.

He doesn’t have the courage yet to go and get her for himself, so he’s just letting it come naturally, even though deep down he knows she won’t like him back. Furthermore there’s some sensory wordplay: He’s playing it by ear (hearing) and hoping she gets the picture (sight), which says even more that it isn’t gonna work because it’s two different senses, as opposed to him saying two things referring to the same one of the five senses. On the opposite spectrum, he could be saying that the two different senses could be a good thing and could help his chances, as it’s the senses working together like it does in the human mind.

AI didn’t put this into words very accurately, but what he meant was that if someone in the Sixers coaching staff says something about his practicing habits, you can take their word. But what the media likes to do is take a rumor from some random about one small thing and turn it into a huge deal. If some random person were to tip them off (it doesn’t even have to be true) about AI not showing up for one thing, that’s enough for the media to stir up a shitstorm.
