In late August 2010, Kanye announced that he would be releasing new tracks every weekend until Christmas in the form of a free music away titled GOOD Friday. On this eighth release in the series we witness another monster collaboration as Kanye teams up with some familiar faces, G-Unit’s very own Punch.Line.King Lloyd Banks, Pusha T, Kid CuDi, John Legend, and Ryan Leslie.

In Complex’s ranking of all G.O.O.D. Fridays entries, “Christian Dior Denim Flow” ranked #1.

Matt Leinart, an NFL quarterback (quarterbacks pass from “the pocket” – an area formed by the offensive line so the QB can have some room to move), attended the University of Southern California, whose mascot is a Trojan warrior. Presumably, his major wasn’t “Being a Contraceptive” (Trojan is a condom brand).

He also wore the #7 jersey in the NFL! His #11 jersey was retired at USC.

He could also be referencing to how many the picture that surfaced years ago when Matt Leinart was in a hot tub with many girls. Referencing to how hes ready for sex, and yes, the Trojan part works too with the condom brand and USC mascot.

Since Kanye’s up all night dirtying the sheets, it’s likely he’ll sleep in and be woken by the maids. Unfortunately he’s disappointed by the looks of women in the hotel industry – he’d rather be woken by a sexy housekeeper who he could turn into his lover for the evening.

“Cheerios” alludes to the zero’s in his bank account. He’s confident any “bad bitch” would have seen him in a music video, unless they watch MTV

Yeezy compares the chances of MTV playing music videos to himself being played by a “Gold Digger”.

While some might associate Kanye West talking about MTV with the Taylor Swift incident, these lines are not necessarily referring to it. MTV music videos were a media reference for the rap genre long before the incident. Kanye discussed this issue in a serious context years after this song was released on Jimmy Kimmel:

But for Michael Jackson, Michael Jackson had to fight to get his videos on MTV because he was considered to be “urban.”

The term “voila” at the end could be a wordplay since the french term is pronounced like the islamic term “wallah/wallahi”, which means “I swear by God” in Arabic. Either way, the term emphasizes the fact that a joke was made and that relates to the artistic moment Kanye was living – while once he was an artist known for a lot of humor in previous works, now this type content on his line were decreasing. He mentioned this issue at the album’s second track, “Gorgeous”:

It's not funny anymore, try different jokes
Tell ‘em hug and kiss my ass, x and o
And kiss the ring while they at it,
― Kanye West (Ft. Kid Cudi & Raekwon) – Gorgeous

“So Appalled” was originally released as part of the G.O.O.D Fridays series on September 24, 2010. The song touches on fame, critics and popular culture.

At one point, the song was due to be scrapped after leaking, however, Pusha T persuaded West to add it to his album regardless:

It was actually just ‘Ye on it. I had already raved over the record because it leaked. I was like listen, there is no way this can’t be on your album, you’d have to be crazy. He was like ‘Really, you think so?’ I was like c’mon man we got to stop treating rap like oh it came out it’s dead. When it’s good, we have to make people love it and digest it.

CyHi The Prynce was brought in to perform the hook duties, but after Kanye fell asleep in the studio, CyHi recorded a full verse that West ended up keeping.

Swizz Beatz later revealed a minor gripe he has with his vocals on this track:

I just never understood why my part was never cleaned up. If you hear, my voice skips on it. I don’t know if he didn’t want to mess with my craft. I don’t know what it was, but everything was last-minute. Every time I hear it, it drives me crazy.

Stephon Marbury used to be one of the greatest ball handlers in basketball, and got a lot of money for it. This gave him an even bigger ego, which eventually led him to only being able to play in China. While in China, he set up a 24-hour live webcam in his room. During the span of a day, he broke down crying, sang along with Michael Jackson, and ate Vaseline to “get his voice back.”

“GOOD Friday,” which contains Kanye’s label’s name (Getting Out Our Dreams = G.O.O.D.), features some of the label’s premier talents. Kanye, Common and Cudi have a limited presence on the track, letting his recent signees Big Sean and Pusha T show off their skills, while Charlie Wilson does what he does best: crooning in the background.

The track has been called carefree and uplifting, which is probably why it wasn’t included in the darker-toned album it was promoting.
