This is the first full song by Lotus Evans. There’s been multiple moments where Lotus has displayed his distaste for this song. However, much to his suprise, he received a reassuring statement from it’s producer.

Goldlink has served our ears with a new mesh of the “go go” sound that is famous in the DMV. It’s also safe to say that this has got the bitches in VA in love with GoldLink. Might even let him dive in.

Also, by saying he’s the next with the “Juice” he is making a slight, playful jab at Chance the Rapper, whom he has been compared to numerous times for his experimental sound and delivery.

According to Ne-Yo, the idea for the album emerged from three influences: his desire to do something different instead of a standard compilation; his interest in science fiction, comic books and Japanese animation; and inspiration from the works of Michael Jackson, particularly Thriller, Moonwalker, and Bad. Originally a short movie was to accompany the album, but such proved not to be viable given time and monetary constraints, so Ne-Yo chose to develop a series of six extended music videos instead. Nevertheless, the film concept continues to influence the work, as he has stated the songs on the album are inspired by the script of the film that he wrote. The album features a number of songs which follow the story of Jerome and Pretti Sinclair.

The album’s concept explores a story questioning morality and both sides of the Libra Scale: the decision between money/power/fame versus love. The story follows three garbage men – Jerome, Clyde and Leroy – who are offered everything they have wanted in return for protecting the city against a forthcoming threat. However, there’s a catch: they can never fall in love. When Jerome (Ne-Yo) falls for Pretti Sinclair (Galen Hooks) disaster ensues, and he has to choose between his love for her and the fame, power and money that he had been given, as he must choose between her life and his own.

After his death, GL is hoping that his mom could read a poem so that maybe she’ll understand him better; see his perspective of the things that happened in their life.

Maybe to show his mom that he wasn’t all bad or he had good intentions in his actions.

The poem might be the note GL leaves after committing suicide, and he hopes that his mom reads it so she understands his reasons for doing so. He reveals suicidal thoughts on Bedtime Story:

Lately I’ve been feeling suicidal
If I decided to commit suicide would you love me more

The first line would illustrate a number of situations. Either his head is “in the clouds” because he’s smoking, he’s day dreaming, or he’s dead and he’s in heaven to face his judgement from God.

In the second line, we could presume that Grande is showing to be dead, indicated by the expression ten toes down…He could have met the fate of the streets and gotten shot. If he did then the bullet must’ve missed him by a foot, where his other five toes are, or he would’ve been on the way to the coroner

  • A coroner: a government official who confirms and certifies death.

Basic Instinct is the fourth studio album by Ciara. It was released on December 10, 2010, by LaFace Records and Jive Records. Executively produced by A&R agent Mark Pitts, Ciara, Tricky Stewart and The-Dream, Basic Instinct returns Ciara to her urban roots with mid-tempo R&B cuts and bass-heavy dance songs. Aside from production by Stewart and The-Dream, Ciara collaborated with production by Soundz, Infinity and T-Minus. Frequent collaborator and friend Ludacris makes a guest vocal appearance, as does labelmate and fellow Atlanta-native, Usher. After the previous album, Fantasy Ride, suffered numerous leaks and pushbacks, information about Basic Instinct was kept confidential until the first single was released and album was complete.

In an interview with ‘MaximoTV’ on April 12, 2010, Ciara announced that the album would be titled, Basic Instinct. The title was inspired by the 1992 film of the same name, which starred Sharon Stone and Michael Douglas. Stone’s character, Catherine Tramell, was a beautiful, seductive, and stealthy crime writer.

Ciara told the interviewer:

When you get the record, you’re gonna get a really fun vibe. You’re gonna get an even more sensual side and also confident and cocky. I got like such an attitude on this record, but in such a fun way.

One song which follows this theme is “I Run It,” Rap-Up described it as a sensual slow jam.

The new album is said to sound much like Ciara’s debut album, Goodies, and her 2006 single, “Promise,” following on from comments made by Tricky Stewart that Ciara was going back to her roots with this album. Meanwhile, she told Pete Lewis of Blues & Soul magazine, that “Basic Instinct is really about her trusting her instinct and going back to the R&B/urban basics in her music – like where she first started, in the days of "Goodies” and “1, 2 Step.”

In a later interview with Maxim, she said:

The album is about our basic wants and desires. But I have to say, Sharon Stone in Basic Instinct was smart, a little shady, and she definitely had a sexy gangsta thing going on.
