Note: I heard of Allan before the Kanye co-sign and I didn’t even know about it until after I wrote this thread lol

The weirdest rapper that has ever been on this segment has got to go to Allan, but his shit is so addicting it makes me wonder if he is trolling or he’s dead serious.

Yet, another W for Chiraq! Chicago has been pumping out unique and innovative artist all damn decade. Ibn Inglor is one of the only guys I’ve been putting on that I feel that has discovered his own sound.

I think Earlly might be one of those dudes that I’m late to. Everyone already knew his EP was out and of course because of the songs with Big Sean helped even more.

Idk why, but it feels like Dayne has been raised in the world of battle rap. Don’t take that statement too seriously; I think it’s just me. There’s no doubt that Dayne is talented, how no one’s talking about him baffles me.

In retrospect, I know I definitely admire Kevin Sinatra’s potential. He still has some amazing production and it doesn’t go to waste. If he can mirror that with a unique flow then that potential will be fulfilled.

Like I said in the thread, Saba has one of the best mixtapes of 2014. Not to mention he renegade Chance on my favorite Chance song. :(

Nas fucks with him. Meaning even if I like him, I’m probably missing something that Nas is picking up. I don’t hear him co-sign a lot of people, but he picked out Dave by name, no confusion like an old dude either lol.

Topaz has some of the most polished production of anyone I’ve made a thread about. He’s making some himself and he’s got Thelonious Martin helping him out. It wouldn’t make sense if he didn’t have some astounding production.

Don’t get it twisted!

Just because an artist is on a Honorable Mention (HM) thread, does not necessarily mean that they are not as good as an artist that get their own thread. There’s a 2 reasons that an artist will not get their own thread:

  1. Its a preferred requirement that this artist has a minimum of 3 Music videos. If they do not have a music video, then they just have to be that good to where I feel I have to share them on these threads.

  2. This is not a usual occurrence, but if I just don’t think this artist is that good, I won’t give them their own thread. As long as this person isn’t generic and overall boring, they’re most likely on the list. If I can find something to enjoy, that should be good enough.

This category is sits on the fine line that is soulful hip-hop, alternative hip-hop, pop rap and R&B. Any artist that makes such music will probably end up on Soul category. If I had to put it technically, most of these songs are focused on melody and singing, if not the lyrics are spiritual/emotional.
