Luz uses the scenario of a troubled child in order to portray the situation. No negativity refers to being denied of being negative, always having to be positive or happy for the people around her (parallel with the kid obeying their parents, which are higher than them, like the people who control Luz this way). So technically, she’s sitting in the corner (alone) trying to hide her emotions.

Connecting this, the next line she says she’s like a kid in the type of manner described above, yet she’s “kidding” in order to keep the people satisfied.

The people who’ve brought Luz down left her broken (see previous line), she isn’t how she was before. Like a virus, they infected her and left her dead (emotionally) even though she’s still alive.

Before, she was actually happy and meant it when she smiled, yet now it’s only for the sake of it; she has to act this way in order for those people to not annoy her more.

The nature of humans is and has always been destructive, being it physically (objects for example) or even worse, to a human being. People are always there to crush dreams and make life worse instead of helping.

Some wordplay featured here

What we do damages us emotionally, leaving us speechless. With that being said, “damage of the tongue” is metaphor-like in the way that it incorporates speechlessness. Also, the things they do leave us silent and broken, just like our dreams.

Yasiin might be talking about either him or her. His poetic ways makes it hard to make conversation with her (she might not understand) or her soft words left him speechless. She made it hard for him to sleep due to how much he thought about Ms. Fat Booty.

What Mos is saying here is basically this: be careful what you wish for, it might come back at you. If you try to give it back, Fate would be like, “You wanted it, so it’s yours.” In other words, you can’t give it back.

Yasiin knew she was trouble, she didn’t look innocent…yet he didn’t mind it, he went for it. Just like a detour sign warns you to go another way because a road is closed, he felt that she had something.

So Mos dedicated himself to getting her. Mos being a Muslim possibly believes God controls all moments in one’s life; God seeing how much he was trying, basically responded like, “Alright, you can have her.”

Continuing from the previous lines, this might be talking about how women are viewed in society, which implies females need men’s help to achieve most of their goals or just life in general. Luz gets pressured by this, yet she wants to persevere and get to the top.

Another way to see this is women in Hip-Hop.

Women in hip-hop are considered rather stereotypical concerning their content. Male MCs are predominant in Hip-Hop, and it’s rather intimidating the criticism laid upon female MCs because they don’t fit in to what they usually are believed into being. She wants to rise to the top and show anyone could rule the Game.

#And lastly:

This might just be talking about how social issues and struggles are laid upon her, yet she’s trying to overcome them, even without power, to get to the top (continue on successfully).

As they began to be distant, Luz went her own way and did things herself. With this, she’s questioning the person, “Did you miss me the way I did when I began to break away like you?”

She wants both to be in a strong relationship, to not let it go to waste. With this, though, sacrifices must be made, since it’s clearly affecting them (everything you’d leave, it doesn’t matter, disease). Even if her lover’s worked hard or begged to get these things, they must decide what to choose.
