Lupe is referring to the phrase “Life is a beach, I’m just playing in the sand” which was made popular by rapper Lil Wayne on his song “Right Above It”.
The word “beach” sounds somewhat like a homonym of the word “bitch”. So in the second line, Lupe is alluding to the common saying “Life is a bitch”.
it’s a conversation so when he says “no, life is a beach though”. It’s a reference from the previous songs that when the slaves drown they become a part or one with the beach.

Despite Wayne’s song, “Life’s a beach” was popular long before him. The variation probably about as old as the original.
Plus Lupe had already played on that expression in “The Coolest”
