The sample used for this track is very similar to the one used on GZA’s intro to ProTools, unironically called “Intromental.”
The original sample for both tracks stems from the 1976 Soul Dog song, “Can’t Stop Loving You.” The producers mainly loop the first chords of the song, sprinkling in other aspects of the instrumental throughout.
Interestingly enough, Kanye had already sampled Soul Dog’s “Can’t Stop Loving You” fifteen years ago on The Madd Rapper’s “Not The One.” Looks like Ye owes Carl Mashall at least two songs!
The guitar solo was played by Kanye West’s right hand man, Mike Dean.
The way this annotation is written implies Kanye ripped off the Intromental beat, when he had already chopped the sample in 2000 for Madd Rapper. Move the GZA reference down or remove it entirely
