Ariana’s verses may be about Ricky Alvarez, her back-up dancer, whom she was dating at the time of this song’s release. They first kissed publicly in June 2015 during Ariana’s performance at the 2015 New York LGBT Pride festival. They were seen kissing again at a donut shop in Los Angeles the following month.

Ariana’s December 2015 song “True Love” and May 2016 track “Moonlight” were written about Ricky. “Side to Side” may also be another song written about him.

“Running the game” is a common braggadocious lyric in hip-hop music—Logic is the center of attention while other rappers simply witness (comment) his greatness.

“Oh my God” is also just a common saying stressing or exaggerating someone or something.

I set out to make a spread sheet that included every single Drake line, but when I realized there would be around 3200 lines I decided to focus on Views because it’s already a classic. I used lyrics from Genius and came up with categories I thought to be relevant or important. It is very slow to read each line and manually give it a score for each category. There are almost 700 lines, excluding doubled lines... The Process – A Modern Tool

This is an allusion to Proverbs 8:6:

Chance has been entrusted to represent Chicago and plans to righteously. “Skullduggery” means mischief or trickery.

Chance revealed in his Reddit AMA that Proverbs 8:1-11 means the most to him.

Proverbs 8:10-11:
10 Receive my instruction, and not silver; and knowledge rather than choice gold.

11 For wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it.

In these verses, The Lord instructs that all material things on Earth do not compare to wisdom.

The music industry is nowhere shy of flashing materialism. Chance, being mostly independent for his career, probably has these verses (and the 9 verses before on wisdom) imprinted on his brain while he goes about his daily business with the music industry.

He uses them to make easy and tough decisions throughout life and to remind himself of where his faith lies.

It seems like any artist nowadays who has faith in The Bible, like Chance, needs the strength of these verses.
