These lines may refer to bankrupt rapper 50 Cent, who has been called out for flaunting fake money on Instagram. Fif also spends a lot of time in clubs.

Meek really does have that kind of money, as he can frivolously spend money at the mall without a care. “Cop money” and “half a block money” refer to money made from dealing drugs.

“Pop Style” is a Jamaican term meaning “ballin’” or “showing off.” The term was famously used on Althea and Donna’s “Uptown Top Ranking”, a Reggae one hit wonder which reached number 1 on the UK charts in 1978.

While Jay Z only shows up for two lines, Drake and Kanye drop numerous references to popular culture. Drake name checks Channing Tatum and Justin Timberlake, while Kanye drops the infamous “I’mma let you finish but…" line from his 2009 VMA run in with Taylor Swift.

This is the first time Drake has collaborated with Kanye West and Jay Z as “The Throne,” and the first time all three rappers are featured on the same song. Drake previously collaborated with Kanye on “Find Your Love”, “Forever”, and “Blessings”, while he linked up with Jay Z for “Light Up,” “Off That,” and “Pound Cake / Paris Morton Music 2.” An alternate version of “Pop Style” without Kanye or Jay Z premiered on OVO Sound Radio on April 9th.

Although they released a collab album called Watch The Throne in 2011, this is Jay and Ye’s first time performing under the moniker “The Throne.”

The collaboration between Drake and The Throne may have been inspired by a line from “6PM in New York”:

Yeah, boy, you rappin' like you seen it all
You rappin' like the throne should be the three of y'all

“Pop Style” was one of two singles released on April 5, 2016, alongside “One Dance.”

Many caucasian law enforcement officers are assumed to have a racial prejudice against African-Americans.

The term ‘cracker’ is thought to have originated in the 1800s from the “cracking” of the whip used by slave masters. It later took on its pejorative use during the Civil Rights movement. Malcolm X used the term in his 1964 speech entitled The Ballot Or The Bullet:

It’s time for you and me to stop sitting in this country, letting some cracker senators, Northern crackers and Southern crackers, sit there in Washington, D.C., and come to a conclusion in their mind that you and I are supposed to have civil rights.

“Heat” refers to a gun—Q just shot someone because they disagreed with (contradicted) him. Don’t mess with ScHoolboy or you’ll end up “at peace” (dead) 6 feet deep, in Hell—666 (triple 6) is the Devils number.

Q’s sophomore album was titled Habits & Contradictions.

Q is selling a bird, or a kilo of cocaine, every hour. They usually sell for around $17,000.

The term “bird” was at its height during the 1990s/2000s Mafioso rap trend but has since died down.

Clash of The Titans is a film adaptation of the myth of Perseus. The story follows Perseus (son of Zeus) in his battles against Medusa and the Kraken monster.

Pusha likens his internal struggle as the “drug dealer dichotomy” to good vs evil. He regularly refers to his state of mind as a double edged sword—on one hand he’s a notorious drug dealer, while on the other he’s a street preacher. Like his state of mind, his lyrics are littered with references to both worlds. He has previously described himself as a “conscious dopeboy.”

He used similar imagery on “Alone In Vegas”:

The tug of war opens the door, entrada
Rip me apart and see what’s inside of this piñata

And more recently on the “Intro” of Darkest Before Dawn.
